This is a part of a bigger pic with officers , all wearing EK I.

But what do the officer on the left have ?? He has one Neck order and one breast order.

The man on the right looks like he have a Lippe KVK I or am I wrong ?

looks like a Lippe-Detmold House Order Honour Cross 2 with Oakleves and Swords and a Lippe-Detmold House Order Officer's Honour Cross with Swords.

What a superb photo. He appears to be an Obertlt and with those orders are very rare.

    Hi,

After looking carefully, it seems that the officer cross and the commander cross are from Waldeck Pyrmont.

ONly two officers wore the same combo

Oberst and FA des Fürsten Waldeck-Pyrmont Karl Freiherr von Graß

Oberstleutnant Paul von Joeden Kdr IR 83.

I see only one pip on the board so it is probably von Joedn here.

    Fantastic Christophe,

Nice to have him Id´d , who was the Officer from Brunswick ?

Thats the first Photo I have with anyone with a Waldeck Pyrmont award. Von Joeden doesn´t look to be a guy who smiles to often....

:off topic: There is a saying in Sweden that the Swedish General von Döbeln only laughed twice in his life, once when he saw the Swedish fortress Waxholm and second when hes mother in law died......

    Hi,

About the officer from Brunswick unit. I have check the Ehrenrangliste 1926, I have found only4 names of officer from IR 92 who survived the war with grade of Major in 1914 and who finished the war as Oberst. Here are the names :

    Oberst Goetze

    Oberst de Dumas de l'Espinol

    Oberst von Maccard

    Oberst von Lehsten.

Now I hope that Dave can find more informations

    Aha, interesting !

Now When I look closer at the Photo I see Three officers from Brunswick !

Second from left front row , just left of the window back row and to the right of Joeden.

What kind of meeting could it be ?

The two Brunswick officers whose sleeves we can see don't have cuff titles, did they stop wearing the cuff titles during the war? I've never seen a Brunick IR92 Friedenrock or field rock or even bluse with a cuff title. Has anyone else?

I am assuming this a meeting of officers from the 39. Infanterie-Brigade, 19. Reserve-Division of which RIR 78 (Joeden's command) and RIR 92 were under command.

Thanks Glenn, after I wrote that I started wondering if they might be of the reserve regiment.

Does anyone know why Joeden received such honors? Other than being a commander of IR83...
