Chris Boonzaier
These are parts of 2 groups out of my wifes family... For many years I have wondered if I should have them mounted... For every reason i find in favour of that, I find one against it as well... What do you guys think?

dond
I'd mount them in a frame with his picture and leave it at that.
redeagleorder
I'd either mount them in a frame or if you have the original boxes leave them there. However, if you really would like to mount them to show how they would have been worn (and I can really understand that appeal!), I think the best idea would be to make a mount with hooks on the back, so nothing permanent is done and the medals can be easily removed. it should also be ensured that such a mount, however, should never come on the market (even without medals) as an original... This could be done by carving some symbol or words on the back to denote it is a display bar. Regards, Matthew

Paul C
Display case or shadow box. What does you wife think?
dante
As a family member, do him the honour of mounting them, the future maybe very un-kind to a loose group
Chris Boonzaier
As a family member, do him the honour of mounting them, the future maybe very un-kind to a loose group That is EXACTLY the reason i am considering. I prefer them in a frame or shadow box, but what comes after me?
army historian
I agree with dante - if you want it all to stay together - have them parade mounted, then put them in a display case. Also have his name on the back of the bar. Edited January 5, 2013 by army historian
