Rogi
Looks almost like an academy style symbol on the center of the eagle, but its better to wait for a more expert opinion and not my wild guess
peter monahan
That is a very lovely piece! I hope some of our experts can shed some more light on its history.
itaca
Thanks for the comments ...I also like very much, and I'm undecided whether to take one of my daggers ...Unfortunately no one can tell me more? Ithaca
Auseklis
By my oppion this might be a serbian bichaq. I don't think it's russian.
Rogi
It is similar to the Serbian Eagle, but I don't think it is Serbian :S I'll check one or two of my books. Edited September 12, 2013 by Rogi
utopis
As far as I know the Serbian eagle isn't holding any regalia in it's talons. But it appears the the eagle on the dagger has a scepter and an orb (?).

I double checked the books and we don't have that kind of eagle in Serbia. Edited September 12, 2013 by Rogi
paja
Montenegro has used the coat of arms which is very similar to Russian. Utopis mentioned scepter and orb, Montenegrin eagle holds them. As far as I know Romanians used single-headed eagle and Bulgarians used lion. As we all know Albania also has two-headed eagle... Ithaca can you tell us what is that symbol on the shield of the eagle from the fourth picture? Old and new Montenegrin coat of arms. http://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2013/post-7937-0-24200000-1379017628.pnghttp://gmic.co.uk/uploads/monthly_09_2013/post-7937-0-27623000-1379017729.png Edited September 12, 2013 by paja
utopis
Another thing that would point to Montenegro are the crowns. The Russian Eagle has one on each head and another one on top. This one like the Montenegrin has only one large crown.
itaca
Hard to say with certainty ...3 The eagle in the picture, it seems that Byzantine empire. The symbol you see in the picture 4, is the lily: the heraldic symbol of France, but also of Florence to another ... In fact, the dagger has nothing to do with France.I do not think that has nothing to do montenegro also, I think, or Russia or Serbia ...Maybe it's a dagger of one of these two states, with other heraldic symbols of noble families. Rogi
Imagine It turns out to be like some French butter knife or something non-Military I would laugh, then cry If it was a Montenegro Dagger that would be a great find
itaca
I do not think Montenegro has always had the lion ....Although Albania has always had but never had eagle globe or another in the hands ..
Rogi
Which imagine is the lion? If it is the one I am thinking of, it looks like a woman's portrait to me (very last image)
Auseklis
This might be related to Montenegro. If you look at it this way, it might be the black mountains and the blue sea. Which is the historical description of the landscape of Montenegro.
