I have a couple of old US Rubber masks and 2 or 3 german ones.

All of them were supple enough when I bought them that I could open them and stuff them with cloth that they more or less have the forn they would have on a face, and they are displayed that way.

My thinking was, if you leave them in the tin (or bag in the US case) they will at some stage dry out to the point where you have a rusted filter on a crumblng mass of rubber... and will be of less interest than a mask that is open, but can no longer be squashed into a tin...

Leather masks are so much easier to keep than the rubber ones :-(
