Obergefreiter Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I recently bought one of these. I understand that this is a combat award, but I am pretty ignorant concerning Asian awards. Can anyone fill me on on this?
Rogi Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) do you happen to have a larger image of it ? I'm not sure if it is combat related, but I do know that it is awarded to Military Commanders for excellent leadership It looks like a Russian made piece, but I can't read the inscription if you could post larger pictures that would be great Edited November 8, 2013 by Rogi
Obergefreiter Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 I'll try, but I'm at work right now. No camera. Thanks.
Obergefreiter Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Here are the (hopefully) better shots.
Rogi Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Ah this looks like after 1960s model of this order, the first 2 were more like the soviet produced version.
Obergefreiter Posted November 8, 2013 Author Posted November 8, 2013 Would this award have been given to the NK military that served in Vietnam?
Rogi Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 If NK served in Vietnam it is possible, but unlike the 50s orders and medals (that most are serialed) I don't believe the after 60s version had a serial number If it does have a serial number, I can't make it out in the photo.
Rogi Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Could you post links via photobucket, since the pictures are still very small for me
utopis Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Could you post links via photobucket, since the pictures are still very small for me Some of the picture are 5kb so that's no suprise
JapanX Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 This one was established on July 7, 1950 in two classes for "military leaders and commanders for outstanding achievements and skills on the battlefield" 1st class for commanders of divisions and brigades. 2nd class for commanders of regiments, battalions and companies. As was mentioned earlier piece in post # 1 was made by Soviet Mint in the early 50s. Made in silver. Piece in post # 5 was made in North Korea (I'd say 70s). Made in cheap white alloy. Cheers, Nick
JapanX Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 P.S. If I remember correctly inscription on the banner reads "For the fatherland". Reverse - name of the order and class.
Rogi Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 P.S. If I remember correctly inscription on the banner reads "For the fatherland". Reverse - name of the order and class. +1 Should be this
