    Here's a nice British Officer's helmet circ 1880 used in Africa. I'm not sure if these were used in Indian or not.

    More information from the experts here would be appreciated.

    The liner system looks wrong for one of such an early date, more like the post 1925 Vero system on removable split pins, though the shape of the helmet does look to be the pre Wolesely (circa 1900) type.

    I'll take more photos in the inside. It's green but doesn't look so in my poor quality photos.

    I agree with Jerry the headband looks to be Vero's patented one of 1925. The foil lining was patented in 1933 but I think it was experimented with in the very late 19th century.

    Cavalry normally used the "hogspear" spike with the "petal base" but anything is possible.

    The "high-hook" is that as used to hold the chinchain on Lancer Schapkas.
