This photo is believed to be of Hptm Lothar Geibel of FAR 2. Can someone tell me what awards he is wearing please?

Hi,

he seems to have left the artillery and joined the Luftstreitkräfte as he sports the Beobachter Abzeichen (observer-badge). As I don´t know much about medals, the EKI is the only other award I am certain of.

He later became General der Polizei so maybe one of the books regarding "Generalen" have award info ?

It should be in the addendum of Vol 3 of Generale der Waffen-SS und der Polizei, published by the Biblio Verlag.

Resuscitating an old topic because there seems to be little out there on Geibel.

 

Lothar Geibel (2.8.1880-23.11.1957) was a Prussian Generalmajor der Landespolizei in 1933. I do not know what, if any, positions he held in the Third Reich. He is listed as a "Pol.Gen.a.D." in the Berlin address books from 1937 onwards. At least one on-line resource has confused him with SS-Brigadeführer Paul Otto Geibel. Is Lothar, in fact, in the SS/Polizei reference books mentioned up-thread?

 

Regarding the decorations, he added a wartime Ritterkreuz 1. Klasse mit Schwertern (EH3aX) of the Ernestine House Order to his colonial Ritterkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern (EH3bX). Its ribbon appears to be that worn on the buttonhole under the EK2 ribbon.
