I saw this at the bottom and went for it, you know me by now Bayern! Seriously though, what does it say please? The picture is good mind isn't it? It's a big old centrefold and so much detail. When it turned up and it has those pics on the back too, bonus! Oh and i've put 3 other pics on the art forum today. They are awesome too. Slightly different style. But worth a look too perhaps... tony

Grone
Good day Sir, is there any chance you still have this piece of art? My great grandfather served in Dalmatian Landwher (later shutzen) Regiment nr. 23, and this just made my day, finding memorabilia of 23rd or any other Dalmatian regiment (37th Landwehr and 22nd Common) is very hard. Thank you, kind regards. Ante Ps the picture is of my great grandfather just before leaving for front.
Bayern
A bit of curiosity , Your Great grandfather served in the 23 LIR but as ? he wears a soldier uniform I assume it is Field grey with grass green collar patches , but he wears gaiters and not putees , he dont carry rank stars on the collar patch so he was not a NCO , perhaps he was attached as motorcyclist to the regimental staff ? Grone
For the first part of the question, yes ih was just and ordinary trooper, infanterist, of thr 23rd, so no nco stars, this is taken just before going to front so he couldn't actually, he didn't had time to earn anything yet, for the second part of the question I really don't know, maybe this is just put on for the photo, maybe hi had some regimental specialist role, but I really can't tell, all i know he lost two first cousins on podogra, also in 23rd, so I don't believe he had any different role. But thank you for looking into it. Grone
