Ed_Haynes Posted July 1, 2006 Posted July 1, 2006 I haven't find this medal Among the scarcest. Few to Mongolians, mostly to Soviets and other COMENCON friends.
Ed_Haynes Posted August 3, 2006 Posted August 3, 2006 Here's an interesting documented medal, just unpacked from travels:

Ed_Haynes Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Excerpted from Bob's really useful master list of serial numbers and dates of award (see http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=9917 and THANKS, BOB! ), here are known data points for the Medal "Friendship" (A44):1,761 12/11/19684,086 1971
Bob Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 documented onehttp://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/t...topic87994.html
Ed_Haynes Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 An interesting photo of the Friendship Medal in wear (by a Soviet friend). He also seems to be wearing the Czechoslovak Medal for 20th Anniversary of Slovak Uprising of 1944?
Guest Rick Research Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Air Force Major General of E(ngineer)T(echnical)S(ervices) Andrei Vladimirovich Ivanovsky appears to be wearing the long outdated M1949 engineers wings--unless those are bullion embroidered? But that looks like the metal version to me. I've never seen an outdated model worn this late (16 July 1969) after subsequent versions came out. :speechless1:
Bob Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Just in a documented one (incl. case a and ribbon; no date on the doc unfortunately), could somebody help out with the name?
Vatjan Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Just in a documented one (incl. case a and ribbon; no date on the doc unfortunately), could somebody help out with the name? "ROLF HOFFMANN" is what I read. But then again, my Mongolian might be a little rusty =o( Jan
RedMaestro Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 "ROLF HOFFMANN" is what I read. But then again, my Mongolian might be a little rusty =o( Jan I definitely don't speak Mongolian or Russian, but going fonetically () that looks right! Interesting story there?
Bob Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I definitely don't speak Mongolian or Russian, but going fonetically () that looks right! Interesting story there? I'll ask the seller, could be East German. Probably early '70s.
Bob Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Cleaning up my archives and posting a lot of stuff which I hadn't posted yet. Here is a documented Friendship Medal - bought in Ukraine and eventually found its way to me. The medal was awarded in December 1967 to a Soviet specialist who worked in Mongolia. His name is Sorokin Yurii Evlampievich. The medal has a serial number 873. The serial number and the date of the award indicates that the medal belongs to one of the first recipients. The first 6000 Nairamdal medals were received by the Mongolian Supreme in October 1967. The Nairamdal Medal was instituted in April 1967. The medal #873 was awarded on December 12, 1967. An attempt was made to research this medal and what came out was that the Decree #166 did not list the names but was generic. The decree was issued to award 924 Soviet military and civilian specialists and officials on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the October revolution. Among the 924 people, 878 people were awarded the Nairamdal Medals.
RedMaestro Posted December 28, 2015 Posted December 28, 2015 Bob, thanks for posting this (and for all your other recent posts)! I have a document for a Friendship Medal in the 600s from the same decree, also to a Russian. Nice to know what it's for finally, altho haven't found info on the recipient specifically. Also have another doc to a Russian for a medal in the 6000s from decree of 1976.1.9 No. 4. Any chance you've run into this date before? Unfortunately doesn't seem worthwhile researching individually with the medal itself absent. Cheers, Alex
