Bryan Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 (edited) Wow Andrei! I just discovered that thread. Your grandfather was on the Voronezh Front! So I guess he took part in Operation Saturn in December 1942. He may have fought against the 2nd Hungarian Army and then later participated in the capture of Budapest in 1945. This is very interesting! Thanks for sharing one of your most precious group! Edited September 9, 2006 by Soviet
Gerd Becker Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Andrew, would you mind posting the other photo of your Grandfather, you were talking about in the inititial post of this thread? I would love to see it.Thanks in advanceGerd
Sergei Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 Mondvor,Is it not amazing what you can discover about your own family - parents, grandparents - the things they did not want to talk about, especially The War ... For some reason I feel very touched by this story. Thank you!Sergei
Mondvor Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Today is a weekend (finally ), so I've had some free time to make a scans from my other grandpa's old pictures. This one shows him together with his friend. He is wearing cadet uniform of 1st Kiev Artillery School. Dated October 1946.
Mondvor Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 This is a group picture of his class in the 1st Kiev Artillery School. My grandfather is standing on the very right side in the second row from the top.
