eos512 Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 May I ask is it authentic? Looking a bit weird to me
Alex K Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Can I ask, as a novice, exactly which bit is "weird" or am I missing something?
VtwinVince Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Any marks on this one? Can you unscrew the back plate?
Wild Card Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Here, for comparison, is a star which was awarded in 1901. It is marked “W” at six o’clock on the reverse. 1591.900801 copy.tif 1591.900801A copy.tif
bolewts58 Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 (edited) Wild Card. I took the liberty of converting your tif files (which aren't an approved file format) to jpg so they could be seen. Edited March 12, 2023 by bolewts58
Wild Card Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 Hello bolewts58, Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness and assistance. While the vast majority of my photo records are jpeg, some, such as these, are tif; and my feeble efforts to convert them were totally unsuccessful. I hope that they prove to be of some value to the discussion. Again, thank you and best wishes, Wild Card 1
saschaw Posted July 26, 2023 Posted July 26, 2023 Is this yours, and could you provide higher-quality pictures? I fear we cannot be definitive from what can be seen here. It generally does look good, but I see something that might be a red flag. It's certainly not a piece to be judged from three mediocre pictures. The thing is these have been heavily faked since the 1980s, sometimes in incredibly high quality. I guess this is what eos512 is referring to...
