pinpon590
Hi gentlemens ! After a long break in collection, i'm back in forum... These 5-6 past years have been very busy (home, child x2, pandemic etc.), but I never really cease to collect some imperial stuffs... Not a lot of orders or awards, but it's still hard to find what I search... Please let me show you what it's all about... Some years ago, I acquired a nice Wurtemberg crown order, knight cross with X : Followed some month later by a prussian RAO 3rd class cross with bow ribbon : I also have the opportunity to acquire some reduction bars : And some aviator badges : Edited September 2, 2023 by pinpon590
VtwinVince
Both nice pieces, any markings on the RAO?

(Ribbon has been replaced by a new and modern one...) 6 minutes ago, Stogieman said: Not sure you can call that a break from collecting! Very beautiful pieces, thanks for sharing! 1 or 2 pieces found by year... Not really attentive on auctions, sellers... but a few opportunities seized when I had time... pinpon590
And now, a great purchase, 2 or 3 years ago (begining of the covid pandemic if I remember...)... A so lovely and nice order !!! Brunswick Henry the lion order, knight cross 2nd class... Stamped S at the top of the crown (back)... Some enamel chip on the green laurel... 🤩 Edited September 2, 2023 by pinpon590
pinpon590
Really hard to remember the dates of acquisition... I think I never showed this Knight's cross of Baden Berthold I. order... 🤪 Short break... I'll continue after dinner... A few more germans, and few imperial austrians too... pinpon590
Last and recent find... A very nice Wilhelm Ernst Kriegskreuz, from Sachsen Weimar... Special mention to @Deruelle, who is fond of this kind of Saxon thing ... 😁 A really nice cross, wanted since a looonngg time... Not perfect, the right laurel have been repaired, but the enamels are generally intact... One-sided swords... A very long wait for this one... This deserves some better pictures... 🤩🤩🤩 Edited September 2, 2023 by pinpon590
pinpon590
I always considered it as a challenge to bring together in the same collection theses three WW1 war crosses, the most beautiful in my opinion... From left to right : - Saxony Weimar Wilhelm Ernst war cross - Reuss War merit cross - Saxony Cobourg & Gotha Carl Eduard war cross... The two first crosses are mine, the third is an image taken from google, to complete the view... You guessed... I search the third one... A day, maybe... If ever... someone... 😁 Edited September 2, 2023 by pinpon590
VtwinVince
Nice stuff, I particularly like the Berthold and the WE Kriegskreuz. I also have one, with minor enamel damage to the back. Could you show us the reverses of the aviation badges?
Stogieman
I’d like to see that too. Love the Henry The Lion, used to have several of those both first and second classes. First in gold.
pinpon590
Here are the reverse of aviation badges. First one : And the second one : Greetings ! Edited September 3, 2023 by pinpon590
Stogieman
I’m sorry but I don’t like the two aviation badges. Neither one conforms to the known makers and from the new photos of the reverse they both look like cast pieces. I may be wrong here but I would not have bought either one. I’ve had an awful lot of these pass through my hands over the years. Vince, what are your thoughts on them? Thanks
VtwinVince
You're right, neither are textbook examples. The Erinnerungsabzeichen looks like an unmarked Juncker piece, but the reverse hardware is a little unusual. The attachment of the pin block in the crown well is unusual, normally these are soldered directly onto the reverse, whereas this one has a slight back plate. Also, the pin and catch seem to be made of a base metal. The pilot badge could be an interwar item, although I've never seen one like that either, but there were numerous variants that made the rounds.

You're wright, I think (but not sure, it was along time ago) that the pilot badge was described as a post WW1 made. I don't remember for the second one... 🤔
pinpon590
Long time ago, I have also found this Women's merit cross of the Lippe Bertha order (Lippe Bertha Orden, Frauenverdienstkreuz). A quite rare insignia, with only 15 awarded during 1910-1918...
