Stogieman Posted December 15 Author Posted December 15 Like I said, busy week! This one brought 437-Euro! 1
Stogieman Posted Wednesday at 09:48 Author Posted Wednesday at 09:48 I can’t make up my mind on this one. 605–Euro. I know there’s excellent copies out there but I really like the details, enamel work, ribbon segment and box. Opinions please? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
VtwinVince Posted Wednesday at 16:47 Posted Wednesday at 16:47 You're right, you have to be extremely careful with this award, our 'Belgian friends' are producing exact copies these days. I like the looks of that one.
Stogieman Posted Friday at 12:00 Author Posted Friday at 12:00 Well, Good Morning My Friends! This rather simple and interesting medal bar went off on eBay.de for an astonishing 8,938-Euro! I have no idea what the third medal is, never seen this one before. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! 53 bids!

dond Posted Friday at 13:52 Posted Friday at 13:52 (edited) That medal has a different reverse than the one shown in the link. The verbiage indicates Dem Verdienste. Is the photo then a mismatch for the award or a different model? Edited Friday at 13:54 by dond

Its for merit in industry, commerce, agriculture and trade, while the one shown in the link is for art and science. 1
VtwinVince Posted Friday at 16:58 Posted Friday at 16:58 According to my copy of Die bayerischen Orden by Schreiber that is the silver medal for industry, which shares the same obverse as the medal for arts and sciences. Total number of awards is 45, so quite rare, but certainly doesn't justify this insane price.
ChrisKelly Posted Friday at 17:05 Posted Friday at 17:05 In reference to "dond"'s post... Yes, absolutely correct. While the medal is in the style of Ludwig II's awards, the legend on the reverse indicates some kind of civil or possibly military merit medal. Nonetheless! On the right track!
Stogieman Posted Saturday at 12:16 Author Posted Saturday at 12:16 One of the few real ones floating around! 391-Euro
VtwinVince Posted Saturday at 23:52 Posted Saturday at 23:52 I saw that one, the way the EK hangs looked weird to me.
Herman Posted yesterday at 11:01 Posted yesterday at 11:01 11 hours ago, VtwinVince said: I saw that one, the way the EK hangs looked weird to me. Why? If I may ask. I am following this thread a while now, but some details why a medalbar is okay or not are totally out of my grasp. I am collecting medals for twenty years now. No German medals anymore, as it is a very rich minefield with hardly genuine items anymore. I sold them all. regards Herman
VtwinVince Posted yesterday at 16:58 Posted yesterday at 16:58 I have numerous Godet produced Schnallen, and the quality of the stitching is always first rate, as is the positioning of the medals so that they hang at the same level. I don't see that quality here.
