svapr Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Hello everyone, I have a question. I bought this Prussian order. According to Nimmergut, this type was, I quote: The 4th class received finely grained cross arms and smooth raised edges around 1885. The swords for war merit that ran through the middle were made of gold until 1916. After that they were made of gold-plated silver. Crosses with finely grained arms and swords were only awarded in World War I. About 50 awards are known. Is it known to whom they were awarded during the WWI?
pinpon590 Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Very nice ! According Jorg nimmergut, 42 awarded ROA4X in 1914-18 (7 for the kaiserlische marine). 😀

For better and freshest data see here (Verleihungen von preußischen Kriegsorden und Ehrenzeichen im 1. Weltkrieg vo Daniel Krause) 3 hours ago, svapr said: Hello everyone, I have a question. These swords are not Prussian style and not the version of the offical awarded orders. Therefore any discussion about supposed period of production and numer of awards is pointless. Additionaly the order is sewed on the non combatant ribbon (white with black stripes). Even if the combination with a Prussian order with swords exists, the awarded numbers are very low and not to confuse with the same orders on the usual war ribbon (black with white stripes). VtwinVince Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Agreed, those sword hilts look pretty odd. Are the swords screwed in to the cross body, and are they hollow or solid?
svapr Posted January 14 Author Posted January 14 Hello, I am sending detailed photos. Could this be a private production, or fake? Thanks.
VtwinVince Posted January 14 Posted January 14 A Wagner cross with non-standard swords? I'm thinking a pimped up original cross with bogus swords.

I agree very good points We see those "unusual ' awards on the market and makes us puzzle when those events happened
