JapanX Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 Looks like this Jar was made by the same maker (“Arita ware”) that made “Plate from Nagasaki” (issued November 25, 1981). Let’s take a look at plate reverse.
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Some additional interesting examples of documents for type 4.1 and type 4.2 wound badges. A very interesting group for private 1st class Yuji Imai who fell sick at Heijian during the China Incident. Document was issued on September 4, 1941. 1
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 And a little add-on – original application (with red seal) with following description: “Fell sick in battle at Heijian. Division at time of sickness: 27th Division Stationed in China, infantry 3rd platoon of the 3rd machine gun unit”. Application was filed September 31, 1941. Approval temporary membership document issued the next day October 1, 1941. Rightmost is the envelope addressed to the Chiba Prefecture branch of the Wounded Soldier Association. 1
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Another very interesting group that was sold at eBay four or five years ago. Private Isada Eikichi was mortally wounded in action on January 1, 1942. He we have practically full set: badge + book + small add on document + photograph of Isada Eikichi. It’s obvious that plastic covers that sometimes could be found with small additional documents (see for example post # 184) came straight from such books. Soldiers get rid of these bulky books, but save plastic covers for preservation of the documents. 1
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 This soldier was also awarded with 8th class rising sun order and 2600th national foundation medal. Here they are. Order (pay special attention to the cover of the box ) 1

JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 And another document for type 4.1 badge, that was issued to private 1st class Kakuta Toyoaki on July 1, 1938. It looks like he was wounded during Russo-Japanese War Document 1
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Let’s come back to the badges. Another oval badge in white enamel (this one looks very much like specimen that Miro showed couple of months ago (post # 141). Here it is.
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Comparison of obverses (new specimen vs. specimen from post #191) 1
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Comparison of reverses (new specimen vs. specimen from post #192) 1
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 As we see the kanji above the pin Kotobuki (Celebration!) is the same, but the inscription under the pin is different and I don’t have the translation for it… The last raw is practically the same “? Japan Wounded Soldier Association Foundation” (only branch name info is added?)
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 And another small round white enamel badge. Variation of one we’ve already seen in post # 161 Obverse/Reverse 1
JapanX Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Comparison (with specimen from # 161 post) of obverses. 1
