don Posted June 12, 2005 Posted June 12, 2005 Fellow collectors Would some of the members care to show some shots of their favourite Ek2.If it has a friend with it thats ok also
Tony Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 This is my favourite and the maker is LV. The ribbon is more than likely post war but it looks good.It has more than one friend so I've pictured it a few of them.Tony
David Gregory Posted June 13, 2005 Posted June 13, 2005 My favourite 1914 EK2 is marked with a simple "G", closely followed by KO's, WILM's, SW's, etc.It is somewhere on one of these bars and has a lot of friends./David
landsknechte Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 (edited) I'm torn between two of mine, a high-quality Godet that's in nearly perfect condition... Edited June 16, 2005 by landsknechte
landsknechte Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 ...and this "M" marked EK that was at an antique shop alongside a veteran's badge from a Brunswick infantry regiment (which was unfortunately scooped up by someone else). Hard to explain really, but it has a tangible "presence" about it. Just feels like a piece of history.
Dave B Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I couldn't pick out a favourite EK2 or even a favourite EK,I like them all! Here are a few of my "crosses" that I like the most...sorry about the KVK's and EK1's Dave[attachmentid=4350]
Glenn R Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 My favourite EK2 is this Godet. Ring stamped G 800 in a stylised Pickelhaube case.
Glenn R Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Case closed. It opens by pressing the 2 spring loaded catches hidden behind the cockades on the sides of the chinscales.
Tony Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 (edited) Hello Glenn,Any chance of seeing the case? I've got a battered one and would like to see how it should look.Oops, I spoke too soon. Tony Edited June 16, 2005 by Tony
Glenn R Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 There you go tony, hope that helps. Don't know whether these were made for Godet or just made for sale as patriotic cases.
Tony Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Thanks Glenn, a lovely case and I hope to get one in that sort of condition too one day.Tony
Gerd Becker Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Thats the coolest case, i have ever seen, Glenn.
Tom Y Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Hi, gang. just found out about y'alll a couple days ago and this is my first post. It's hard to decide which is my favorite, but I guess it's prolly this one, the grandaddy of 'em all.
Glenn R Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Tom, thats the equivalent of porno for Iron Cross fetishists. What a collection.
landsknechte Posted June 30, 2005 Posted June 30, 2005 I guess you collect iron crosses don←There's a fine line between collecting something, and wallowing in it. I daresay that line was just crossed... Wow. --Chris
