order_of_victory Posted October 14, 2006 Share Posted October 14, 2006 Here is the latest addition to my collection here is sellar description:Fascinating medal awarded by the North Vietnamese Govt. to Soviet specialists who participated in the Vietnamese war. The USSR provided technical assistance across all arms particularly aviation and artilery. This one is cased in a chinese style red silk covered case, numbered and has the letters V.N.D.C.C.H. The case also has the same number and the name 'L. Tsederpil' writen on the back. Medal is a little worn, but the quality of manufacture was not excellent to begin with. It was one of only two Vietnamese awards to be serial numbered, and were manufactured somewhere in Eastern Europe. I envy you the gramota (or NVA equivalent).There is one of these medals on the Russian shooting team sash that I posted at http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5988 . In that case, he was said to have been a rifle marksmanship instructor. With his skills, I doubt that he was a simple rifle range instructor.Thanks for sharing yours with us. Emering's book on NVN awards, but the inscription on it matches the title of the accompanying award document--what Comrade Yefimenko got in 1973 is described asMedal for Soldiers United for Victory/Conquer American Enemyoh my, oh my and not the blandly discreet "Friendship" awards at all. Guest Rick Research Posted September 27, 2007 Share Posted September 27, 2007 That star and document do not seem to belong together, but I cannot read the small, fuzzy Vietnamese on the document-- the accent marks are very important and I can't see them clearly.The star says Anh Hung Lao Dong = "Hero of Labor""Huan Chuong Lao Dong Hang 1" (I cannot make Vietnamese accent marks with my computer) = "Order of Labor Class 1"the document appears to be for--Ba Me Viet Nam Anh Hung = "Madam Mother Vietnam Hero" so apparently the same as the Soviet Gold Star of a Mother Heroine. Yours is the first box I've seen-- rather interesting "book covers" construction! I can't read the small print on its cover, but that appears to simply be the national crest, as if this is a generic issue box.
