He is wearing an EK1, OK1, BWB, and a ribbon bar in Bavarian style. However, I couldn't find anyone matching in the Reichsheer. As a pre-war Oberstleutnant, even (E), he might well have made General. Guest Rick Research Posted December 16, 2006 Share Posted December 16, 2006 My immediate first thought when I see Bavarian and Oldenburg isMarine Infantry.I think this guy was active duty,so that should be 25 and 12 on there. Probably went into the LaPo between the wars if he doesn't turn up in the Reichsheer. There would be no problem if the unit number was clear, since I have the January 1939 list. But guessing won't help at all. The Waffenfarbe is too dark for infantry, and not dark enough for pioneers. Could be red. Could be yellow. That MIGHT be a "VII" number for the Wehrkreis. Oberst Nüßlein came from the 1st Telegraphen-Bataillon (Munich) and went into the Reichsheer. The 1924 RL lists him, but he must have gone aD before 1932. Must be Wehrkreis "VII" staff affiliation on his boards then. As an Oberstleutnant, the photo dates 1 October 1936 (first bestowals of the Wehrmacht long service awards) and his promotion to Oberst (E) 1.10.37 #9.
