    Dmitry Markov auction in NYC

    Recommended Posts

Not yet being discussed here I think. Yowsers the catalogue is filled to the rim with beautiful, extremely rare and very important items. The Transcaucasian awards just make me look at the screen in awe - you could fill a museum with what's in this catalogue! And enjoy the fact that it can be downloaded as PDF - nice as a reference for future :jumping:

Sad that a Suvorov 3rd+2nd group are split up though... :(

Yes. Will be very interested to see at what prices things go, thougfh the likely designation to which they'll go is obvious, I think.

Sad that a Suvorov 3rd+2nd group are split up though... :(

Noticed that. Criminal. Though there seem to be some other oddities with that group.

One think to keep in mind - these are not market prices.

These are what two or three individuals with too much cash were bidding up on the auction. They didn't care if the price of the award was $1,000 or $10,000. These are people who don't ask "how much", they just say "I'll take it at any price". We are talking about tiny slice of the collectors community (less than 1%?).

Will this affect prices for the rest of us? You bet. During the auction Igor was seen working on his laptop, changing prices on some of his web site offerings.

    To all:

Certainly not a bad environment within which to operate when it comes time to dispense with one's "gems" should one have them.

    Hammer prices at NYC-auction

    Gentlemen,

besides of some (very) rare (labour) screwbacks, the hammer prices at Dimitry's auction showed just the expected market situation, if you take the exchange relation of USD vs. EUR and the growing demand from Russia into account:

A Glory 1cl in the price region of USD 12.000,- + (incl. buyer's fee) is for my understanding (and taking the rarity and importance of that order into consideration) a rather "fair" price. In comparison to a RBL T2, a Glory 1cl is quite a bargain ;) .

Only items, which had been already out of reach for most collectors, skyrocketed to unbelievable heights: Neither I would spend USD 15.000,-, nor USD 150.000,- for a Lenin T2 screwback, because I don't have the money ....

Just my 2 cents about the recent market situation ...

    Best regards

Based on the published auction prices I know that I've won a few items in this auction but have not received any communication on this yet from the auctioneer. Anybody else here with a "win" at this auction? Did you get any info already confirming auction result, requesting total payment, etc.?

    Thanks

Why don't you contact Dmitry directly and ask him about next steps?

I can't begin to describe how fed up I'm getting with this. I won a few lots for items which I was looking for quite some time. None of them particularly pricey (no, I didn't buy a 30-40K item) but on one in particular I got a very good deal.

After many emails, no response. In the end I emailed another partner in the auction and requested action. From this party I got an immediate response and subsequently he also put DM on copy to trigger some action. With that, I did finally get a response but since then after several emails from my side (I was on vacation in Syria) again no response whatsoever.

Why does this have to be so difficult? I bid on some lots, was highest bidder on a few of them and would now just like to pay for them and receive them. But I got no invoice, no details whatsoever. Are my "cheap" lots not a priority? Or did I get too good of a deal on one or two of them?

Am I the only one experiencing this? :banger:

This is extremely disturbing. Markov seems to be getting as bad as some of the others. I didn't bid, but I picked up a few on the unsold lots and got those within a week of the end of the auction. I don't know what to suggest. Have you tried calling? (I may send some other suggestions by PM.)
