Guest Rick Research
This is a cleaned up version of a list I have been keeping for my own personal use since 2001 in an attempt to keep track of patterns of bestowing military awards (the periodic mass awards for long service 1944-57 and so on) and to approximate dates of UNdocumented awards that may turn up by comparing them with observed DATED numbers. In the case of 1940s Orders Books, in some cases it is only possible to show the MONTH an award was made--from date privileges commenced. In cases where a FULL date is shown, that was either noted in an Orders or Medals Book that listed the exact date, or comes from researched awards' Awards Records Card. The awards listed below are from a variety of sources and are NOT (I wish) in my collection except a few included here. Orders and medals I have kept track of are:Order of LeninOrder of the Red Banner (USSR type)Order of Aleksandr NevskyOrder of the Patriotic War 1st ClassOrder of the Patriotic War 2nd ClassOrder of the Red StarOrder of Glory 1st, 2nd, 3rd Class (my interest in these being limited, not focussed on them)Order of Service to the Homeland 3rd ClassValor MedalMilitary Merit Medalcv = a screwback conversion to suspension mr = mint replaced suspension for an older screwbackHSU = Lenin accompanying a Hero of the Soviet Unionother random marks such as * or @ or ## are used as references within one award's section to show where a single recipient received a lower numbered award at a later date than a second of the same award with a higher number-- or whatever comparison of that mark reveals. In the GLORY section ONLY, anything after the date is to show where all three classes' numbers are in Full cavalier sets, so a 1st class "a" matches 2nd and 3rd "a," and so on. Guest Rick Research
The list above will be periodically added to, and I will leave the "edited on" line in for the future to indicate when that is done. For those of you who have your OWN documented dated serial numbers data base lists willing to share, please post!!!But LARGE numbers/dates lists ONLY so this thread does not straggle off into NON LIST posts. Do NOT post single numbers/dates here, or ask questions about individual numbers et cetera. This thread is ONLY for very large personally verified/observed "data base" numbers-with-dates LISTS and not conversational replies PLEASE. PM individual questions about specific numbers.Maybe in the end somebody smart enough can combine all the lists into one... that is completely beyond my ability. Oooo.... offer taken up: see below----> THANKS DAVE!!!!

Guest James Zammit
Hey guys. The info detailing serial numbering is of great interest as I have finally placed some of my orders into an appropriate time frame. It was interesting to see that Order of Service to Motherland #86497 found its way into my collection. Is there anyone else keeping track of other others such as labour glory orders, labour orders, October revolution, badge of honour, maternal glory and motherhood medals etc etc etc? CheersJim
Guest Rick Research
Glad to be of help! Anybody who'd like to start up a similar non-military numbered awards by dates listing would be met with I am sure. That would make a great new separate thread! I have noticed FREAKISH mass bestowals of Badges of Honor and Labor Glories, but have concentrated on military awards because of my own collecting interests. All of the Lenins above are either military or civil, but it seemed worthwhile to include them here since so many can be identified as military long service awards. JimZ
Yeah - its quite a mouthful I reckon a very interesting exercise nonetheless. Maybe something one can take up hoping that other members are helpful enough to help with the pooling of information. Really worth its while at the end! So all the more appreciative of your efforts and work. This here collector put them to good use. Thanks Rick!!

JimZ
Some weeks back I was collecting data regarding the Order of the Badge of Honour, Red banner of labour and the Order of Friendship of Peoples. I am always sorry to see that labour and non militaty orders are always ins the shadow of their military counterparts although that is very understandable. Regrettably I cannot add much to the serial numbers submitted above for the Order of friendship of peoples. In the case of the Red banner of labour, the information obtained is not yet sufficient to submit. Below are the serial numbers and award dates I have managed to obtain for the Order of the badge of honour. Please notice some overlapping of serial numbers in the 70s. Eric Gaumann
I found these numbers on a very reputable site (SMAP forum) from a poster who's long since vanished...These numbers, according to the poster, are:"All the following have been confirmed by researchAll confirmed..."Medal for Bravery96695 01/02/43112814 07/12/42159218 22/02/43246667 23/04/43347049 01/09/43745775 05/02/441030518 03/03/441577386 22/08/441624206 30/09/441697816 07/09/442370720 12/01/452452683 22/02/452454862 09/05/452602999 01/06/452821213 17/06/453220514 24/05/45Medal for Combat Service142728 06/02/43333121 30/06/431346306 03/11/441354547 07/10/441502924 19/04/451614353 03/11/441672076 02/10/441897624 03/11/442651351 01/02/433114869 06/11/45I'm not sure what the poster meant by 'confirmed by research' and they don't really mesh that well with Rick's numbers but I thought I'd throw it out there just for the heck of it. Guest Rick Research
Thanks very much, Miguel! These fill in many gaps in the date/serial number list. I've stopped updating that pinned thread here since people don't even look at it, preferring new published books' date/serial lists. But I keep the total list with me printed out when I go to shows to consult if I see a serial numbered award.

HenkWillem
I found these numbers on a very reputable site (SMAP forum) from a poster who's long since vanished...These numbers, according to the poster, are:"All the following have been confirmed by researchAll confirmed..."Medal for Bravery96695 01/02/43112814 07/12/42159218 22/02/43246667 23/04/43347049 01/09/43745775 05/02/441030518 03/03/441577386 22/08/441624206 30/09/441697816 07/09/442370720 12/01/452452683 22/02/452454862 09/05/452602999 01/06/452821213 17/06/453220514 24/05/45I have a Medal for Bravery with number 2105611. In the list I've found that it could be awarded between 07/09/44 and 12/01/45. But the one I own is awarded on the 4th or 5th of Februari 1945: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=38083Is the above mentioned list wrong? Guest Rick Research
Wartime numbers are not always exact because some units had lower numbered awards but did not hand them out as fast as other units. So higher numbers were often awarded first. That's why we can only say between known dates unless actually researched for a precise date.
