    1. Are my eyes going bad or do I see 2 silver star ribbons on the second row?
    2. www.coinsoftherealm.com They may be a hoity-toity dealer that doesn't want to deal with us common folk. It required a password to get in.
    3. May or may not have merit. Mercury is used as an amalgam in the mining process. If you are mining gold from a river you coat mercury on a copper sheet and the flecks of gold adhere to it as you run it through a sluice box, also I think the same process is used when mining for crused ores. Then you use cyanide in the refining process. Bottom line is mercury is an important part of gold processing so I would take much stock in it. I don't know that mercury is used with gold in gold fillings but wouldn't be used in crowns because gold crowns are cast and glued in place.
    4. Here are this Gentlemen's Certificates. As I understand it the man let Czechosolvakia before the war started, tried to join the Navy but they wouldn't take him because he had poor/no english so he joined the MM
    5. Here are cards that were issued to seaman.
    6. There are restrikes of these out there. one guy sells them on ebay with I believe a GRACO marking.
    7. Can you give some more details? Is it all copper? Silver plated? weight? is it possible to get a side shot?
    8. First time I've seen the side shots, there is enough room between the frame and core to drive a truck through. I'll take my post-war flawed S&L any day.
    9. Thought you would like it. The other unique thing about this one is that it's bigger, the cross is 2 1/2", across and the ribbon is 1 3/4" wide.
    10. He's got a couple of them in his queue. This is the type of guy you want to complain about displaying "offensive symbols" just to get it off the market.
    11. Just got this one in because I thought it unusual, nicely done piece.
    12. "Sweet William" (Captain Fredricks) I believe went to the Americas after Sharpe's Revenge and could have done an adventure or two about him. Also would like to have had more about Harper and his return to Ireland ('cuse me Donagel) instead of just passing him off as a successful horse trader. There was one of the Chosenmen who didn't get killed off in the movie series, Cooper, He was just wounded and written out of the series. He shows up in a teaser video called "Sharpe's Legend" which was just segments revolving around R. Sharpe. Where is he now? For all it's short comings it's a good production and a good crew - I had conversed via e-mail several times with the Armourer, Richard Rutherford-Moore, a very pleasant man.
    13. His description is very poor, of course "800" mark in on the reverse which is the 1813 side. I think Darrell is right I thought this one looked familiar. There is an American/British expression "Bad pennies always will turn up" . Consider this a bad penny.
    14. I would be very nervous of this. The quality isn't there that you would expect out of a Junckers. Notice how there was an attempt to remove the lower part of the ring, very sloppy. Ask for more pictures.
    15. It represents a golden kite, messenger of the Gods, that helped the Emperor Jimmu Tenno in defeating his enemies in a battle. A kite is a bird similar to a falcon.
    16. The whole series (movies and books) are troubled with continuity issues. When the books first came out they didn't follow a time line, they jump from one period to another. Then after Sharpe's Waterloo B. Cornwell did one post Waterloo story (Sharpe's Devil) then did the "prequels" in India and his journey to Spain which the stories are starting to fall flat. I Still love the stories movies and books. I still plan on getting a Baker Rifle some day and going back to blackpowder shooting with it.
    17. Okay so tell me my British companions how was the first episode? I'm dying to know.
    18. Here is my oldest, a rather flat ancient kipper
    19. HOORAH! Over the hills and Far Away! 'What's the situation with the author being in a lobster back uniform????" Me thinks he had to put Mr. Cornwell somewhere since he is the "father" of Richard (Proper Bastard he is and all). Oh my brother Darrell, where have you been? The Sharpe series (books and movies) have been the best thing to come out of the UK since Guiness, and fish & chips.
    20. Doc you are closer to one than you think. All you have to do to see one is to head north for a bit till you get to Abilene, Kansas to the Eisenhower Library that is where his Order of Victory is and his other Orders and Decorations.
    21. That's exactly what it is. I bought one of these at a state fair in 1967 (still have it). These are still sold on ebay with black, red, blue or yellow cores.
    22. KGB Legal? would that be a oxymoron? or a contradiction in terms? Anyway nice boards. I'll have to try your tip never thought of that, my old age is getting to me too.
