    1. I agree , I posted this bar in the axis forum asking for an i.d. on a ribbon , this could have come from an officer that was an advisor to the axis force,s . Here : http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=5951 but i have to agree with the comment,s about the ribbon i originally posted above it,s smelling fishier all the time like it,s been at Grimsby dock,s .
    2. I wish i got something like that for driving my trains in and out of Manchester !! I,m in the wrong country !
    3. Hi Dan , There is a bit of debate as to wether they did actually authorise the cufftitle,s , hopefully someone will chime in with a bit more info . I,m just hedging my bets as you could get these cufftitle,s over the counter at the local jeweller,s in Germany as 1957 model,s they are made differently to the wartime one,s especially the kurland . and you can also get the paper packet,s for them . I don't think they were authorised for wear on the bundeswehr uniform , i think they were made for a short time for vets .

He served for some years on torpedo boats and on minesweepers. When during late summer of 1935 the first U-boats were commisisoned he became a Maschinenmaat on U-10. So he was one of the rare U-boat men, who served nearly ten years in the U-boat force. His first patrols he rode on U-18 as Obermaschinist. In 1941 Lichtenberg became an officer and served then for 8 months as leading engineer (LI) on U-652. Later he was training officer in the 22nd flotilla, before he in May 1943 became the LI on U-516. After war he spent 10 months in British captivity. From 1956 he served in the Bundesmarine in several staff positions. In 1964 he retired as Fregattenkapit?n decorated with the Federal Merit Cross (Bundesverdienstkreuz). Source: D?rr, Manfred Die Ritterkreuztr?ger der U-Bootwaffe Band 2. 6. Hi , Here is my jewel in the crown , it took me 4 years to get her !
    7. Hi Dan , Thanks for showing it , here is it,s twin on a ribbon bar : EK2 , Afrika cufftitle , Sports badge in bronze , Afrika medal . Note the unique ribbon used for the cufftitle instead of the neutral blue / grey ribbon usually used for awards .
    8. Hi all , I,ve been offered a 1957 ribbon bar consisting of the Aux Cruiser badge , russian front and Kurland cufftitle . I know a man could have served on Aux cruiser,s and then been involved in the kurland evacuation at a later date , but i was wondering aloud . Did any of the auxilary cruiser,s take part in the kurland evacuation ?
    9. Hi Dave , I know what you mean ! I got a reply to one of my wants ad,s a few days ago saying that they have a 1957 pilots and pilots/observer badges that their dad picked up from a German airforce base in the 60,s . I,m just waiting for them to get back to me ! i don't have a pilots badge but i have a mid version pilot / observer badge which will have to fill the gap till i hunt an early bird down , they are getting tougher to find . I once saw an early 1957 pilots badge at a show about 2 years ago showing signs of wear and they wanted ?100 for it !!!
    10. Hi David , Boy you are a busy boy aren't you !! The Recce clasp is a nice mid issue S & L with their circle maker mark on the back The lufty para badge is a nice mid issue piece nice colouring and not to garish like the later pieces with the nice hollow rivets not the big ugly dome one,s like the last issue horrors have . Thanks again for showing , and leave some for the rest of us !!!
    11. Hi Laurence , Thanks for showing your 1957,s ! The RK is a nice second type with good quality it must have been one of the first of these using the second type of core before the quality nose dived . The KvK2,s you show are a good example of early and late piece,s the quality of the early one screams out to you where the later one looks like a tramp , yes they did mount the ring wrongly on the later one,s why i don't know . Cheers Grant
    12. And i sold my Russian awards last year which included a Stalingrad which i sold for ?10 .
    13. Hi Dan , Thanks for the offer mate but i just can't see you go hacking at those lovely awards ! Also i,ve spotted a guy on the militariaweb website that is selling length,s of the neck ribbon so i,ll give him a try as i want a nice long piece !! There is a case maker in england called Tony Yeoman i think ? and i know he does exact copies of all 3 grades of Olympic cases as i asked about getting the neck cross case for mine , so he might be worth a shot if your after cases sorry but i can't remember his website address , but i,m sure someone on the site will know . Cheers Grant
    14. Hi Dan , It looks a nice early piece but i,ve no idea what it would be worth sorry ! Yep we all have regrets about stuff we have parted with , but i,m glad i,m not mixed up in the third reich stuff anymore there are just too many fakes about , mind you the fakers are creeping into the 1957 stuff now !
    15. Hi Dan , Thanks very much for showing your collection C.E. Junker i,ve got my eye on one of those lovelies at the moment hope i get it !
