    1. I recently got such a tab back bar. I absolutely do not prefer them but that one came directely from the wearer's family. If it came from anywhere I'd hardly doubt it is a real one. However I think Rick is right about the rusty ones. It may work, but four out of five won't survive any changing. ;)
    2. Absolutely textbook Godet set... To a Prussian junior super hero Leutnant, Oberleutnant, Hauptmann... stunning, thanks for showing. ;)
    3. Sure Leib Garde, sorry. But it has nothing to do with your questions on this thread but rather with our "older" problem we were discussing in mid-december: H&S state Prussian Kriegerverdienstmedaillen were given on white and black ribbons from 1888 on to non-Prussian EMs and as well sometimes to Prussians like rangers etc. And, I'm still sure we have exactly this on the thread-starting ribbon bar to a NCO from Saxony.
    4. And that crown... ?! I think this is a later private purchased variation. Those presumably were offered e.g. in the 20s and 30s at all big medal producers as Steinhauer & L?ck, Deumer, Meybauer etc. However an interresting variation, think I'd buy it.
    5. One more, now without any tricks. I recently got this nice old style ribbon bar. The ribbons are for an Anhalt house order, apparently a Württemberg long service award, the Anhaltian reign jubilee medal and a merit medal from Schaumburg-Lippe. That combination is pretty odd, I'd say. I have no idea about how that last awards makes sense - or may it be anything foreign with a "close enough" ribbon?! In RL 1913, I was able to find a Württemberg officer with nothing else but an "AB3a": Rittmeister d. L. Schuler, Landwehrbezirk Stuttgart, I. Aufgebot, Train, with the (Württ.) LD1. He has the same in 1909 and I could find him neither in the 1904/05 nor in the 1906/07 Ordens-Almanach. Would it make any sense this is his? Or does anyone have other suggestions?
    6. Hmm, not to odd for a W?rttemberger. Keep in mind: anything else on the bar is "foreign"! I don't know why exactly but the PrRKM 2 and 3 are sandwiching anything, at least mostly. Great bar with that rare W?rttemberg XX, that Weimar cross and a nice combination with a foreign order. Good luck for identifying.
    7. Ah, okay. Sorry, but I doubt this one (and your friend's as well) has been issued as a Golden one. Most of those big golden ones are modern gilt. From 1908 to 1918, there were just about 60 awards of this class, the awards from 1908 to 1914 still in real gold. Makes a handfull awarded ones in silver gilt version from 1914 to 1916 and another handfull in war metal gilt as yours from 1916 to 1918. None of those knows awards were on this ribbon but all on the civil ribbon - pure yellow. However, they are offered on eBay etc. every month... :Cat-Scratch:
    8. That mark on the Baden medal is not known to me from any other medal, but is on any Baden merit medal from 1916-1918. They were made by B.H. Mayer in Pforzheim and are, and therefore the mark, not real gold or silver. Is it the big or the small issue of the medal?
    9. Well, the picture could be taken one or two years before the dedication, when he might not yet have the DAK. Those things do happen, I have this with others! But you're right, I was playing tricks on you. Sorry for that... The reverse dedication is hard to read but his almost illegible name is anything but "Vogel". I tried to read while comparing to the rank list's name index and found him: Koenemann from IR 112, in 1913 Major z.D. Landwehrbezirk Marburg. Awards match and that illegible has to be that name. And if there wouldn't be his name on back I would have been pretty sure it is Vogel on a slightly elderly photo yet without his XXV...
    10. I'm having this picture for some years now and recently wanted to check who it is. The reverse gives a dedication and year, 1910, and my closest rank list is 1909. It's a Hauptmann in Train-Bataillon 11 with PrRAO4, BdZL3bE, Prussian 1897 and Baden 1902 medal. The rank list lists a Major Vogel with PrRAO4, BdZL3bE and PrXXV. What do you think, might it be him?
    11. Wow. I think I've seen his medal bar and ribbon bar before. With a nice Prinzen size of the KO4X...
    12. That "wannabe Milit?rsanit?tsorden" from #45 is the "Kriegs-Erinnerungskreuz 1914 - 1918" from the "Verband Bayrischer Frontk?mpfer e.V.", Nie 2.02.16. Unfortunally, shown without ribbon. However, the ribbon on the bar has silver wreath... :ninja:
    13. Very correct in any point. The cross is absolutely text book for about the 1900 era.
    14. I think the King of Prussia did not wear the Crown order. However, there's only written "aus dem Besitz" and not "getragen von".
    15. Aha, you got that one. I remember when it was offered, some years ago... There never was such a rosette for the Z?hringer Lion order, so I assume it was a foreign recipient. Actually, it is not even a proper Z?hringer ribbon. However, very nice and interresting one. Does the cross have any hallmarks?
    16. Wow, that guy made it to Generalmajor? Great additions to the photo, and thanks again.
    17. Nice one, I think they're quite rare. And here's one in wear, on an anonymious Bavarian Leutnant or Oberleutnant from LIR Munich in 1898 (sorry, I have no Bavarian rank list):
    18. Thanks Werner, I knew that already. Just from the rear it wasn't clear and I wondered why KO and RAO are not beneath. ;)
    19. That's were I DID look. However, at the 1904/05 volume, with none French/Vietnamese dragons listet... Great work, gentlemen!
    20. Stupid question: are those B?ren numbers for awards with swords... ? Or are they that rare? :speechless1:
