    1. Hi, I always thought the Oakleaves shown here were a Leipzig Freikorps? Interesting badge seems to have had a black backing added...
    2. Hmmm... how long is long? And how much facial hair is "facial hair"... I think nowdays they would need to be more specific ! :-)
    3. Could the US guys serving in Korea a few years later still wear the Soviet award from 1945 or was that a nono ?
    4. Hi, The old post office is just off churchill street, If you have not been to that market, dont miss it! I am gusessing we are talking about the same thing... the big building facing the cluster of shops is the post office. best Chris
    5. Was that at one of the first 2 or 3 shops on the road in front of the post office? I think I saw one there. best Chris
    6. Hi. Oposite the old post office there is a good market... when you enter the road, shops to your left... the first 5 or so have some goood stuff. A tip... just go to the post office parcel section... they are friendly and suprisingly... in my case... the stuff arrived home!!
    7. OK, the Saxon arrived today.... It seems to be zink. Along with the makers mark it is stamped 1915 on the back. What I really like is the 12.J. stamp on the bottom ;-) Just saw that when it arrived...
    8. Hi, Had it for some time, just remembered to add it when I was doing some redecorating
    9. I have a Saxon one on the way in the mail, will post it when it gets here. Am I correct in thinking that Steel ones are 1915 model? I have seen Hessen steel ones with a green and with a silver-grey finish... is there a difference?
    10. I am not a Buckle guy, but have picked up a few... I like this Hessen Buckle, the leather tab is 1917 dated, the belt it came on 1914 dated with a IR118 stamp...
    11. Unfortunately one of the uggliest color combinations... the Germans say "Gruen und Blau schmueckt die Sau"... But is is my "local unit".... 2nd Bavarian Jäger...
    12. A fantastic shot of a Leib Regt guy with the Edelweiss on his Picklehaube cover! http://www.ebay.de/itm/221138573700?ssPageName=STRK:MEDWX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1435.l2649
    13. Agreed, best used on a heavy Metal band leather jacket :-( Best Chris
    14. Hi, Wren seemed to have no military service. His Legion parts are often pretty accurate, but apparently he got it from chatting to ex Legionnaires. Best Chris
    15. The tone of the thread was "The guy wanting the info does not have it, but I do... so that should be enough..." ... so i thought I would keep that up.... :-) (Serious though, will get to it soon) It has nothing to do with Esoteric, it has been my experience that Foreign awards on British bars are usually less appretiated in the UK than the foreign awards are in their home countries. Especially Russia where there is a vibrant market for Russian stuff. Just by the way... I remember reading in a Memoire about the fighting in German East Africa... a Box of Russian Medals arrived at High command to be awarded as the discretion of the South African General commanding the troops in German East. A few higher officers chose what they considered the prettiest for themselves, noone having any idea of which was "higher" or lower. Best Chris
    16. I dont think this would make USD7000 in the UK. Unless it is a Brit Gallentry award it would usually be in the "Ummm... interesting... but..." catagory.
    17. Hi Chris, there is a way.... but I think you need a Paris based researcher... I have never been able to figure it out... Best Chris
    18. Bang... twice in one day.... Its been some time since I have had a nice Verdun piece... so.. "Leutn. d. Res Just commanding the 8. Komp gives the order to "Fix Bayonets!" and with a loud "Hurrah!" the 24 remaining men of his Company charged the enemy. " See whats new.....
