    1. I think the battledress colur is probably the same as the Brit or US battledress in WW2
    2. I think he was Caporal-Chef (Chief Cpl) Gold on top with Legion green below,,,,,
    3. Do you have the right colours for the rank slide ons? Best Chris
    4. Very nice indeed.... thanks for posting. I only have one tally myself, it is for the Zerstörer Berndt von Arnim, forever grateful to Gordon Williamson for pushing that my way as it is the only one I have seen for the ship. My wifes Grandfather was on it. Best Chrs
    5. I have only now noticed... dont know why I missed it.... it is the only units documents I have where the wording is "The Kaiser awarded Joe the EK" as opposed to "On behalf of the kaiser, I have awarded..." Of course, Rohr could not approve EK awards himself, but it is unusual that the Kaiser is the Authority that, according to the doc, made or signed off on the award. This is true for the 4 Rohr EK docs I have. The Flame Thrower guys seem to have been awarded the EK by the unit they were attached to during the action where they eraned it....
    6. Its on some French army sites.... you be famous ;-)
    7. Richard Wahl was a very reluctant soldier. The first part of his Diary is up in the "Whats new" section. Wahl was incredibly happy to keep away from the front for as long as possible, did all he could to get of a Machine Gunners course, was not to happy to land up in Avocourt Forest on the border of the Verdun campaign... and was pretty unhappy about being gassed in May of 1916. He missed his chance to be captured by Sgt York who catured his company in late 1918, by which time Wahl was guarding POWS. Objectively, Wahl seems to have been a very sensible man indeed, feet firmly on the ground and more interest in his wife and child than going to war. Also some killer photos added to the Machine Gun Photo Album... http://www.kaiserscross.com/152301.html __________________
    8. All over the worls there is medal inflation...
    9. Can anyone identify his exact unit with this sword? There is no cypher in the shoulder board, but the photo is posibly from 1919
    10. I dont have a lot of cases, but here they are... notiche the one top left... the date is 1914/15 on the small EK pic,,,
    11. Just got this one from Sascha this week.... A neat little cross...
    12. Hi Bernhard! Thanks for a super write up! Do you have any Photos of the period? All the bestChris
    13. How nice to see an acceptable Head/Crown ratio.... Foe some reason it has always bugged me how over the years the crown had grown bigger and bigger on succesive medals, until it looked as if someone was balancing a Volkswagen beetle on a water mellon. Best Chris
