    1. Very nice indeed! For the life of me I can not understand why somone would pass up anything unit marked for something NOT unit marked!
    2. He has the oakleaves on the EK, so must be a 1870 cross...
    3. A Question.... He was Lt in 1876... the first unit mentioned was in 1878... Did he serve in 1870 as an other rank? Or not at all? Thanks Chris
    4. Ahhh... OK, those are the awards that were awarded to the City of Verdun after the war.....
    5. Hi, Although Eichhorn's document has 2. Garde landwehr Regiment, Andy has sent me the following info.... "v. Eichhorn was in 2.GRz.F. " "v.d. Goltz is a bit trickier. He entered the army in IR 41 on 25.04.1861 and transferred from that regiment on 24.09.1870 to GR 8 (while attached to the Gen St. of II. AK) ." So it is not so clear where v.d. Goltz was when he recieved his 1870 EK2
    6. That is nice indeed.... is he a 2 star or 1 star?
    7. Hi, which ones do you mean? The French Medals with maker variations?
    8. With the steel helmet it must be a bit later. Does anyone know if that can be downloaded? Are there programs that will?
    9. An unfortunate event sours the month. Rick "Research" Lundstrom was killed in a car accident. Anyone involved in Imperial German Medal collecting or research would have known Rick. The Gandalf of the Research Gnomes has left the building HERE Harry Brings us back on track with a close run thing, The fight to relieve Rumaithah, Mesopotamia 1920 HERE A short article about an attack made by the 1st Bavarian Reserve Jäger Battalion in Romania 1917 HERE
    10. Hi, I will take it point by point... and just as devils advocate as i have NO IDEA if these are good or not... 1) "we have members here collecting for 30-40 years and not even one person have seen any other piece made by the same maker." indeed... but this is also true if Preissler HAD made them... why has noone seen one? 2) "why this quality?? How could you make money with this quality star?? Why not Godet? Or Meybauer ? I am sure that person would make a fortune if he would go with one of this makers.." quite simply.... if you can get 100 of these for EUR5 a piece, and sell for EUR15 a piece... thats 3 times your investment. To make a Godet, or a Meybauer, you are going to spend a fortune, for a small return. It would probably cost you more to make than you could sell them for. Go to the firm in pakistan, spend a little bit, no need to go to any trouble.... and they are delivered to the door. Once again... I have no idea when these were made, just pointing out how easy it could be. best Chris
    11. Really very sexy... If you have some time, can you do close ups in seperate threads? Not only the Lugers, but the other stuff as well :-)
    12. Depends where you have it made. I had a mould made in germany for EUR70, then a silver medal struck and finished for EUR30.... EUR100 total....I could have had as many as I wanted after that for EUR30.... as the mould was already done. Now these guys.... http://www.alibaba.com/product-tp/142917813/Badge_Insignia_Metal_Badge_Medal_Brass.html Will make you a badge for EUR0.01 to EUR6.00 depending on what you want.... We, joe average dont know the business... but other folks deal in it every day....
    13. Basically From the 6.11.18 Kunst was attached to the unit and served in occupied Belgium. Due to demobilisation he was sent to the Bezirks Kommando in XXX and released from Service. Best Chris
    14. I am sure there are quite a few of us who have made complex little displays noone will ever see... collectors, bored, rainy night.... nothing on the TV... And then again... as said.... some folks do displays... and they ARE seen... http://gmic.co.uk/index.php/topic/59993-omrs-convention-2013/ I will bet your board was made by someone who went to a lot of trouble to do a display at a local show.....
    15. Hi Muhittin, I pass no judgement on originality, my observation is simply that this example would be very easy and cheap to fake. Best Chris
    16. How did it go from being shipped to London to Wilkins I wonder? A nice looking weapon indeed!! I imagine the British prrofed ones are worth a tad more than regular ones?
    17. Unfortunately no way to tell which unit. Do you think the order is correct? Prussian, Austrian, Prussian, Austrian?
