    1. Sorry Andreas, a typo on my part in post 12... I menat "June 1915" But your group confirms what I wa supposing (for me). That is the 3rd doc I have ever seen for a clasp. The Raksch book has one, I have one, now this one... Best Chris
    2. Easy one here... http://www.ebay.de/itm/Super-Konvolut-Orden-und-Gemalde-original-und-top-/160986796678?pt=Militaria&hash=item257b8f9286
    3. Hi, it is a large one, I paid EUR250 for it, which is IMHO not cheap, but OK for what it is. I think watch sellers are missing the boat on great potential with these. Agreed people dont carry pocket watches, agreed unless you are a collector there is no real point in having one..... But I found a reason.... Now, i am no wood worker, my dismal failure at making a Truncheon for the competition are more than enough proof of this, so this stand is of course ugly as hell.... but if you have someone who is a bit of a woodworker, and you want a really nice watch on your desk.... they make fantastic desk watches for the mancave. Imagine what Brian could turn out in 30 minutes down in his workshop..... To look up from your work and see a quality 100 year old swiss watch ticking away... for folks who like old stuff.... And if your customers are a wife who just does not know what to get hubby for his birthday... he likes old stuff, but needs something praticle.... a watch with a stand for work... And if the customer is a snob... sell him a nice old Omega Pocket watch with a stand.. tell him its the first thing folks will see when they enter his office.. And if some young guy complains his new wife cannot even boil an egg correctly... tell him to get here a watch with a stand for the kitchen. IMHO the problem with many of the antiques we like and love.... few serve any practicle purpose, other than being there.... give them a practicle purpose and they are 100 times better....
    4. This is not really Storm Trooper... but it is really cool.... The bullets were originally from the bandolier...
    5. Hawickhorst was a reserve officer in Infanterie-Regiment (1. Lothringisches) Nr. 174.
    6. dont really collect crosses... but bought this a couple of years ago. Of course it was original! The quality was there.... Of course, I did not wonder about it being a flatback - screwback, which i have never really seen before for WW1... Rubbing some dirt off the back showed the backplate was made of a copper like material.... So... the front rim and core must have come from an original EK2, everything on the back fake.....
    7. This is the company... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Railway_Company Must have been a nice adventure, leaving Wales for Souh Africa in 1901
    8. I bought this little gem in Simonstown a few years ago.....
    9. The unfortunate side of drugs in sports, is anyone taking them is basically saying "if anyone wants to compete against me he basically has to take drugs to have a chance..." What gets me are the arguments "Well, why not legalise it for all participants.."... which is a load of bollx.... Why? Just to let those who already take them carry on taking?
    10. You can maybe win a knights cross for a Tank action, and be a brave man... but you can also be executed for treason, and be a Hero... It may be a touchy point for some, But Hans Oster was working from the mid 30s to put a stop to Hitler, and avoid germany rushing into a war that almost destroyed it.... Hard to say he was not a hero of sorts.... He was hanged in April 1945 at Flossenburg along with his friend Admiral Canaris... Here are his Reichswehr Shoulderboards...
    11. There are always one sort of chest or another on ebay sold as officers chests... I was happy enough to get this... I already have one with a welded in plaque from the "Deutscher Offizier Verein" shop in Berlin, this one does not have the plaque, but is named... There have been 3 or 4 chests named to him as a hauptmann in Kamerun on ebay... according to a few articles he was quite the looter, bringing home over 800 items for german museums.... so maybe there are even more chests... They have a rubber seal to more or less seal them off....
    12. Hi, just go to the top right hand corner of this thread to the "Reply to this post " button... then go to "choose files" and choose the pic off your hard drive. best Chris
