    1. Not to mention the fabulous condition! Yeah, I know, I'm "biased" but hey, it never hurts to blow one's own horn albeit ever so softly! ;>)
    2. Well, I'd be willing to bet that at the point this bar was mounted the FO ribbon was as close as they could get! ;>) I'm still intrigued by this, call me simple, but little tidbit details like this that are new to me I find thrilling!
    3. OK, who's going to open the cap thread!! That would be interesting!!
    4. ahhhh, I had not considered it as a "decree number" like one sees on the Soviet "Honored Employee" Badges... Good point!
    5. Like I said, looks good on the fotos.... but let's point out everything the Lads & Lasses need to be looking at so maybe those with less experience can gain some more! I'll start with the mark. There's two (2) versions of the Meybauer Mark out there. Both similar. What I consider to be the early one is identical to the one on the cross, just slightly smaller and more detail within the shield. Then there's this slightly larger, less detailed version. Both are acceptable and correct, but this second version is often found stamped into fake EK1's and fake retired pilot badges...
    6. Should be a IX on the back of that one denoting 9 years Long Service from Bavaria...
    7. Actually have this one on my watch list.... everything looks OK, based on the photos, but the Meybauer mark is also the heavily faked one... so I'd invite a rousing discussion of the merits of the cross before anybody plops down there hard-earned cash.
    8. I'm clueless.... but it just didn't "feel" right to me at all. Like I said... the metal itself just doesn't look right!
    9. Gentlemen, we will take a brief "cooling-off" period please.
    10. Gentlemen.... let's keep the discussion on the topic at hand please.
    11. Interesting, no further comments.... The badge did not sell and many of the others he's had have received disparaging comments both here and on other forums. My experience with him was with a uniform that is everything it should be. While waiting out the shipping is always a harrowing experience, I will certainly keep an eye on his offerings! ;>)
    12. My feelings are the same with him as with any other. I will search for what I want and then decide at that time whether it's worth the toll to me. On one hand, there's a tremendous amount of material offered that's not all that easy to find. On the other, as with many dealers, you pay for his experience, his warranty and his time and efforts. I expect to recoup the same with the things that are my little niche. So I think that's pretty normal. As with any dealer, we/they all make mistakes. Not necessarily on authenticity either. My philosophy has always been that the best (and yes even the worst) dealer makes mistakes. As "prepared & educated" collectors, we are occassionally afforded the opportunity to capitalize on these mistakes.
    13. Oh yeah... Notice the "KP" stamped along the left edge in the last photo??? I'm not at all familiar with that stamp. A maker's mark perhaps?
    14. The screw disc doesn't look quite right. But the rivets and number look proper?
    15. To me, the metal of the badge itself looked very strange, not at all the finish and appearance I would have expected on this piece. But again, not my area of experience at all.
    16. Not really my thing, but a scarcer example of this Order. I am curious as to opinions on the piece. Thanks much for your time and experience!
    17. Sure looks like "recycled" Saxon Order of Albert Ribbon being utilized there... Frugality prevails yet again!
    18. Interesting. How the heck do we determine this is Halhingol? Does anybody know how this looks spelled in Uigar script?
    19. Interesting example and especially since we have a 1991 Date! Please note that we have badge #201 (!!) being awarded. Further documentation that these were probably made in one big lot and then handed out over the entire life of the Republic!
    20. Beautiful waffenrock to an unusual unit. Excellent state of preservation as well!
    21. The Saxon Lifesaving medal is very hard to find.... but good luck trying to find the correct ribbon!!
