    1. Hi Chris.. both the PH's are engraved on the back?!
    2. There is absolutely no indication that there has been any altering, buffing, or anything else done to the reverse and/or the number on this order.
    3. I'd like to add that one thing that you cannot discount. When the paperwork comes in, there can never be any doubt as to what went with whom. No doubts as to completeness and originality. it's a shame not all collectors value those little details. It's a shame that the time will probably come when we will no longer have access to these archives. I for one would grab everything I could get, while I still can.
    4. Thanks Richie, I'm sure we're all looking forward to much more! Again, welcome!
    5. I was thinking about this... I've seen less than a half-dozen documents for this cross in all my years. I've had about 5 of these, 2 actually mounted on a bar. By the numbers, this is truly the "rare" "PLM". You want the neck order, they can be found real (never mind the plethora of fakes).... set your mind to having one of these and will take you some time to acquire one.
    6. I agree Ed... with these prices skyrocketing out of sight, the fraud will not be too far behind. Which will eventually depress the prices back down to a more "reasonable" level perhaps, but the genre as a whole will be diluted and collectors will all suffer.
    7. Beautiful frame and presentation. Nice to see the whole span there.
    8. I agree on the engraving. But it matches up with others from the era. I'm always impressed with the variety of styles you see on the earlier ones. I've seen some you would swear were stamped and only under a glass can you see the tool marks the engraving is that precise. Others like this one look like a little too much vodka the night before!
    9. Rusty, I'll try to get a good scan tonight. No evidence of tampering that I can see though.
    10. ummmmm, you can't prove that. I say it was really him. Why that little tyke in the SS uni looks nothing like me...... on the otherhand... it sure looks like him!
    11. Liar! He made me light the fuse.... I remember exactly what he said..... "First, go downstairs and get one of Papa's wine barrels........."
    12. Negative. He's the scary looking dude in the center. I'm the guy with the flag. Not co-ordinated enough for drums!!
    13. Well how about that....... I know the author. Just had a nice eMail chat.
    14. OK, what I'm talking about is the plow blade touching the staff....... I'm looking at my McDaniels right now. Page 77 ORB Type 3, Variation 3 SN range #287,242-333,070 ??????????
    15. No, I don't think a Type 3.... the serial number is way outside the range according to PM. Look at the plow and staff!
    16. I'm not sure, therein lies my problem. But take another look at the front!
    17. Well, my favorit example just disappeared from one of the dealer's websites... Hope it's going to a loving home. I'm still hoping to get a documented example of one of these.
    18. Igor just posted one of these with extraordinary photographs (and value)
    19. This little gem landed on my doorsteps today. ORB #104677 (Jan-Feb '44)... take a look at it and tell me what you see!
