    1. David is correct, originally this cap badge was just the 17th Lancers and it amalgamated in 1922 with th 21st Lancers hence the 17/21st title as we more know it as. In 1993 when we scaled down, it was yet again amalgamated this time with the 16/5th Lancers to become the Queens Royal Lancers. This change to the QRL title wasn't well recieved at all. They were as the 17/21st in the 1990/91 War, part of the UK 1st Armoured Div which is what I was attached to. The last time I saw these guys was in late 1998 in Bosnia. Kr Marcus
    2. Reverse of RA V The split pin may not be original ths paticular badge
    3. And last one for now, a 1918 'version' of the RA Volunteer (silver colour) cap badge
    4. Again the detail can't seen due to my scanner skills and my settings on it !! 7th Queens Own Hussars
    5. The scanner omits the detail to a degree on the numerals
    6. A few more from the collection: Victorian 4th Queens Own Hussars, this was Sir Winston Churchills old mob at one time if I recall
    7. This as stated before is a reproduction case, it's probably been aged as such to faulter any black light testing. That test shouldn't always been taken as gospel, but is a indicator perhaps for concern more often than not. This form of fake has been around for 20 or so years, perhaps even longer it's been suggested to me in the past by a reproduction dealer and maker of such things. You do find it with varying outer coverings (slight variations in the paper applied) from more modern versions being poor and obvious to older ones with more convincing paper covering, in the fact it resembles more those coverings seen to date on various genuine boxes of sorts. There are numerous genuine counterparts, from Imperial sorts to even TR era of a very similar nature....but this one is totally fake of course. Very commonly encountered in fact. Kr Marcus
    8. Hi Kurt, Can you show the catch, namely the head from a level straight on perspective, I'm a little dubious of this one if honest. Kr Marcus
    9. These are mostly his 'tailor' medals. I know the Montgomery relatives so to speak, I may be able to get actual pictures of his genuine medals if you're interested ? I promise I will see what I can get picture wise for you all. I'm very busy at the moment with a book and my occupation, but please feel free to e mail or pm me with any questions I may be able to get answered in regards to his medals. Kr Marcus

    11. I have a cap badge and an 'ash tray' with the Selous Scouts badges on.....the pair are around in the attic. They were given to me in around 1982/83 from a former Scout who became a journalist here in the UK. I was 12 or so at the time and wanted Falklands War items of course, I don't recall his name properly although it was British sounding. I'll dig them out for interest. Kr Marcus
    12. Dave, Are you sure it's D Tovey ? Because theres the famous Admiral Tovey, a Jack I think that springs to mind.
