Sorry, IMO this is postwar. So called closed four, made somewhere in Lüdenscheid (S&L, Deumer, or Schauerte&Hohfeld...). There are also some closed 4 fakes... But OK, let´s wait what others say. -

Not very good photos of the core, but to me it looks like postwar or even TR era cross, not the award piece. Of course, I can be wrong, better photos needed. And... what about that strange mark left of hinge? "956" if I see correctly? -

Thank you for info, Ulsterman. I didn´t mean it is a throughout fake, I just hesitated, if it is not mixed up from original parts. But of course, would be happy to found out you´re right that this is unique original piece. I agree with TR Red cross medal, but are you sure the second one is Brunswick war merit cross? Two thin stripes are not just yellow - it´s made from red and yellow squares... Regards, Miro -

Hello gents, Just picked up this Godet buttonhole decoration with Silesian Eagle mini. I am wondering that there is no yellow-white ribbon for Silesian Eagle in the ribbon bow. In fact, I am wondering all ribbons that are there, because they look quite strange to me. Can somebody help me to identify them? Do you think this buttonhole mini is original, or Silesian eagle was added there later, replacing original medal? Thanks in advance for any comments. -
EK 1914 Just a little something
marrauder replied to marrauder's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
Interesting observation, Chris. I thought that the reason why this ring was easily lost is that AWS/Juncker didn´t usually weld their ribbon rings and left them open. But your explanation makes sense as well. Miro -

...and the little surprise. When it came, I noticed the maker´s mark "J" on the small ring, the fact that was not mentioned in original eBay listing. What do you think, is it original, or later add on to increase the value (which in fact didn´t happen this time)? -

This one was offered on eBay few months ago. Nearly no one was interested in buying the cross without ribbon ring, so I took it without any mentionable fight. AWS/Juncker third core cross.

EK 1914 1914 Combatant Iron Cross awarded to Women
marrauder replied to Naxos's topic in Germany: All Eras: The Iron Cross
I´ve found only: 4 females for EK2 1813 (Eleonore Prochaska, Sophie Krüger, Friederike Krüger and Johanna Stegen) Around 40 for EK2 1939 (32 names are documented) http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=1706 2 for EK1 1939 -

Hello, I just purchased a pack full of german ww1 and ww2 ribbons, mostly original pieces. One between them is interesting. I wonder if it is ribbon for Ritterkreuz der KVK, or only special device for mounting KVK2 ribbon for the uniform. Width of the ribbon is only 3 cm. Thanks in advance for any opinion Miro

Hmm, I´ve read about Nero´s attempt to defeat the sea waves, and about Mao Zedong´s struggle against sparrows as well. Now I am looking forward to see your try. :ninja: -

Sex, drugs and fakers have one big similarity, Chris. You can avoid them personally, but you can´t do anything with their existence. So don´t waist time complaining, and think positively. :) -

Existence of fakes: - puts a theme to the hobby. At least 50% of all debates on forums is authenticity approval. - puts a feature of danger to the hobby, which makes it even more attractive. You can win, but you can loose - it´s rollercoaster adrenaline. - puts a gap between buffs and serious collectors. No pain, no gain. - makes originals even more valuable. I don´t mean financial value, I mean how would you like original cross you bought on the corner without any fear in comparison to original cross you had to reach by swimming in the dump of fakes. - motivates us to study - history, materials, production techniques... So please tell me, what do you have against fakes? -
