Unofficial one?? I think it is one which had been awarded for having completed the TMPT (two-day militairy Prestation Mars) 10 times. The ribbon is the same and the cross is blue enamelled, so it had been awarded for completed the TMPT 10 times, after 25 times the cross is red enamelled. Kind regards, Jacky

Belgium Belgian Order of the Crown
Jacky replied to Laurence Strong's topic in Northern European & Baltic States
If I may bother you, Gentlemen, with a question.... I heard that the Grandcrosses of the National orders of Leopold II and the order of the Crown were equal in size to the commanders-cross... However the Grandcross of the order of Leopold I would be slight larger than its commanders-cross. Could anyone shed a light on this presumption??? Thanks in advance... Kind regards, Jacky -

After having browsed through his ebay-site I noticed that he sells a lot of copies.... Maybe is this a copy too!! Picture looks strange for something old... Just my 2 cents. -
Lovely medals, I like those Kriegs-verdienst Medal's for their shapes and overall image. I think that they're beautifuller than the Iron Crosses....... Maybe it's just the malteze cross Those medals were also awarded to factories for having reached certain quota's ?nd therefor helped "winning" the war!!! Does anyone know more of this practice???? P.s is the screwback one an official one or an unofficial one?????

Quite a late answer, However, the answers for different ribbons is the same as the answer why officers get orders and the lower grades get the zeal-medal, Just because of the ranks, just to state the difference between the sailor and the lieutenant..... Even the english do it, Admirals become knighted, sailors get a medal to commemorate their part in the action...... Belgians give lower grades of the national orders to the NCO's and soldiers, whereas officers get the knights-classes immediately.... yes, the pure equal society doesn't exist..... but differences motivates -

Wonderfull pictures, indeed the light is soft and very nice!!! The medals become allmost like jewels... Which is what they are too!! Pieces of metal with a wonderfull story.... Could you make more pictures like the ones in the first posts?? Keep going!!! -
Fabulous!!! Especially the first class Civil decoration!!! You can see the gold through the ribbon, in my versions they are all yellow.... From the commemorative medal can be concluded that it was a volunteer without front service. Somewhere in the colonials..... Correction The star was for "gereformeerden" (don't know the exact english term for this ) who had suffered wounds inflicted in war or cought illness due to their service...... My excuses for this fault.... /Correction

US Medal of Honor - Sergeant Louis M. van Iersel
Jacky replied to Kev in Deva's topic in The Great War 1914 to 1918
Well... My humble 2 cents concerning the way of pronouncing and describing is.... Write it as it is called in the country of origin "Medal of Honor" But for the communication between members use the British English, as it is clearer, easier and sounds better Sorry, no offense to the Americans However, It is clear that this man couldn't have 3 french Croix d'guerres, as he only served during World War I I think the first is the french, because the medal before this croix is the medaille militaire. the second and the third must be of another country, one is belgian and the other should be serbian!! Because servi? did have a war-cross, monetegrin didn't *feel free to correct me if I'm wrong* So First Croix d'guerre is french, the second is Belgian the third is Serbian. -
