    1. Hi Lingqi, This is the commemorative campaign medal of the Army of Portugal 1916. This medal was established in 1916 on the 30th of November by decree number 2870. It was issued for all campaigns of the army against the Portuguese enemies in Portugal or abroad. The silver one was given to officers, gold for senior officers and bronze for others. The medal you have here is the 1919 revised version for armed forces campaigns. It is an average seen medal, although in silver or gold a bit scarce. Cheers Sampo
    2. Hi John, Looks Ok to me. It has a typical French loop for the ribbon, which is very common for these orders. Take care Sampo
    3. Hi John, Sorry, it is not Laotian nor Cambodian. It is the Vietnamese Ethnic development medal 2nd class. (Boi Tinh Phat Trien) Take care Sampo
    4. Hi Nick, Not exactly, it is a Yugoslavian order of bravery, awarded for bravery in battle to civilians an partisans who fought Fascism. The lines read: Death to Fascism freedom to the people. This was a Partisan slogan during the war(WW2) Cheers Sampo Hi Nick, A bit of additional information, the Russian produced orders have more rounding in the model, and lower numbers(below 20000) Here is an example
    5. Hi Marcon1, NEAD means, the Non-European Affairs Department, and ABNS is probably the Dutch equivalent, but I could not find any confirmation on that. Cheers Sampo
    6. Hi Nick, Here some information on the Danish medal:This medal is established by King Frederik VIII and awarded in commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Royal Danish Life Guards Association's establishment in 1658 by King Frederik III, and is an infantry regiment of the Danish army. The ribbon should be white with blue edges. As for prices, I have seen them go between 5 euro(no ribbon) till 30 euro(with ribbon and issue box). I have no information on numbers issued, unfortunately. Cheers Cyril
    7. Hi Nick, Here is the wiki page: https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medaljen_for_lang_og_tro_tjeneste Cheers Cyril And a bit of translation: The medal is awarded by the Board of Directors (Board) of Norges Vel and was first awarded in 1888. The medal can be awarded to employees in both the private and public sectors. The medal for long and faithful service is not a state award and therefore does not appear in the King's House's ranking list of Norwegian orders and medals. On the other hand, the 2009 medal is approved for use on Norwegian military uniform, where it ranks second in "Group 4: Other Norwegian decorations". The Medal for Long and Faithful Service was awarded in the first decades to employees in agriculture, as well as servants in private households. The first award took place on December 3, 1888, when five women and four men were awarded the medal. Until 2004, the requirement was continuous employment with the same employer for 30 years. This was later moderated so that employment with interruptions could also qualify if the employee has been employed by the same employer for at least 30 years. The employer seeks the Royal Society of Norway's Well for the medal and is responsible for awarding it. It is awarded about 3500 medals annually. 8. Hi Stefan, I have checked all former auction catalogs, and could not find a similar one. I know many Ethiopian medals have been made by Spink & Co during the Exile years 1936-1941 of the emperor, maybe a limited production or a proof example of Spink manufacturing? I am out of suggestions here, and unfortunately I do not know any book with these details on Ethiopian orders. Cheers Cyril
    9. Hi, This is indeed a curious one. If it is not a Mapin and Webb, and it is definitely not an Arthus Bertrand or a Sedavjan, which one is it then? Maybe we should look into a Italian manufacturer? Cheers Cyril
    10. Hi Stefi88, You are welcome, they produced this medal only for a short period, just before WW2 1935-1939. Cheers Sampo
    11. Hi everyone, I do understand the importance of not cleaning a medal, but if you want to do so without damage, the next method might be an option. Put Aluminum foil in a small plastic tray. Lay some soda(salt) in each corner. put the medal in the middle, and make sure there is nor ribbon attached and that it makes contact with the foil. Put in warm water, not hot. Let it rest for a few minutes, and silver and gilt medals come out as new. Cheers Sampo
    12. Hi, Looking at the connection between the crown and the star and the lock on the ribbon, I would say made in London by Mappin & Webb. Cheers Sampo
    13. Gents, Thanks for your explanation! Cheers Sampo
    14. Hi Does anyone know if this polish army medal is real or a copy. And maybe the manufacturer? Cheers Sampo
    15. Hello, I will give it a try. The first picture is an old style handwriting, and it is too difficult for me, but perhaps someone else can. The second one reads: Walancourt forrest 19/3/18, (Unreadable, maybe rank or position) Henrique Edelmann (unknown to me) The third one: Day 7-14, P.S.P. Edelmann, corporal-chef (Sorel??) reinforcements (Unknown word to me, maybe region) of Bathincourt Hope this helps a bit, or give some else a good starting piont to help you out. Cheers Sampo
    16. Hi Patrick, Thank you for the information, and the information you have sent me. There are 675 American recipients of this medal, is there anyone who has the names or partial name-lists of these recipients? I am probably looking at an officer at least captain or more. Sampo
    17. Hello, Does anyone know if there is a name list for the recipients of the Liberation medal of the city of Metz? Or which USA unit(s) did receive this medal? Cheers Sampo
    18. Hi, The medal planchet seams the same, just the ribbon is different, maybe these are older issues?
    19. Hi JapanX, Sorry I do not think it is that one, it looks too big to me. I have attached a Dutch recipient. It is the Navy captain in white, who is wearing it.
    20. Hi, Does anyone has a good picture from the Chinese modern Ba Yi meritorious service medal? Sampo
    21. Hi Dodyory, This is the order of the Ethiopian star, grand officer grade. If it is the medal alone cased, I would say between 250-300USD, if the document is included 350 USD. It is not a very rare medal, but then again not very common with the case and document. Sampo
    22. Dear Lenaerts Jannick, What a stunning Belgium group. Do you have any documents with them? And can you tell me the number on the back of the Chungmu? Is the Bronze star named? I would really like to know more about this medal group. Regards Sampo
    23. Hi Nick, They are definitely French, the last one is the Ordre Ouvre Humanitaire, (for Humanitarian aid). I did see the others before but I cannot recall what they where called. Sampo Hi, I just found the middle one, it is the LA MEDAILLE DU TRAVAIL ET DE L'UNION DE LENS.
    24. Hi Jeff, There where at least 3 Greek officers who received a Legion of Merit, most likely for the Korean war. In the third picture, I think to recognize the legion of merit in the Greek commanders ribbon group. (second form the right at the bottom) Regards Sampo
