Is there anything (awards ...?) known about the other german participants (EM/NCO/OF) of the defense of Neu Guinea against the australians in september 1914? I have a few names, but nothing else.

I´m always deeply impressed by the research done here in this forum!! Does anybody know, if there do exist lists of the Gendarmes (NCO equivalents) of the prussian Gendarmerie Brigaden?

Thanks for the additional information! I wonder why the BMV4XKr is not listed in his Kriegsrangliste?!? He reached Germany on the 22.07.1919, got his EK2 on the 24.07.1919 and it took them quite exactly six months to award his BMV4XKr ...... some laaaazy bureaucrat!

Would it be possible do post a bigger version of the pictures from ancestry? Would be interesting to know, if he not only had a Kolonialabzeichen but also an Ehrenkreuz für Frontkämpfer and some WWII awards?!?

In august 1914 he was the second-incommand of the Polizeitruppe in Deutsch Neu-Guinea in 1914 and became an australian POW in Sept. 1914. Stunning grouping with great research! Collecting british police medals seems to be a really really interesting subject with loads of history!!!

Yeah, around another 2000000 until the awarding process finally ceased seems a bit unrealistic ..... Something around 4000000 would be a convincing number in my eyes.

Does the new Wernitz EK book give an award number, or does it quote the usually 5 200 000?

His award documents, unfortunately the citation for the Tapferkeitsmedaille is missing, only the accompanying letter is left. The document for the Iron Cross is pretty small and looks pretty field made.

This Dienstpass belonged to Johann Frohmann, born in 1896. He served with the austrian army in WWI from 1915 to 1919 and was severely wounded and awarded with the Silver Bravery Medal 2nd Class, twice with the Bronze Bravery Medal, the Karl Troop Cross, Wound Medal and Austrian War Commemorative Medal. His last rank was Corporal. He was called up for police service in 1939 and served with various posts all over Austria. His last police rank was Hauptwachtmeister der Schutzpolizei der Reserve

Unfortunately I don´t own a picture of this soldier. This group was a nice catch on ebay.
