    1. I don't really know much about WW1 stuff, why would that be strange then? I have checked to see if the medal is the removable sort like the other bar but it is not, it has been on there from when it was constructed, do they share the same ribbon? Thanks jock
    2. Don, Thanks for the info, I will bare that in mind in future if I see stickpins longer than 3. I presume that included WW2 awards? So you would only expect to see the senior 3 awards on a pin? Cheers Jock
    3. Guys, Some books from Sunday at the market, if anyone has a specific interest let me know and I will copy the highlites on here. Jock
    4. Guys, I think sometimes we forget we are getting old and this for me is a reminder that even contempery things like the Bundeswehr has a bit of age now too! I always thought it was just junk, sorry, I know it is not it has its own history! Jock
    5. Guys, This was from Sunday a whole but sadly trashed album of local boys and family members, there was the same again in civi pics but €10, really, I did not bother to ask if it was family as it is better in my collection. I removed them from what remained of the album as it was truly beyond restoration and was degrading the pictures by them rubbing together. Jock
    6. Guys, A thick wad of FP to a FJ boy that was injured and ended up at a local (Munster) barracks to recover, I hope he made it home as there is talk of a limlited return to duty! I shall have a good route through and see if anything interesting is there. Jock
    7. Chris, Sorry, now I have been tactless, I just thought we could welcome the guy before we got the boxing gloves on, we are all thinking the same thing and hoping the same thing but it is not a given of course. Sorry! jock
    8. Trondk, I think Chris has voiced what many are thinking, maybe a little tactless but still a valid point. I have noted your location so I presume you have bought these online at a reputed dealer? I say these since you have 3 Dutch jackets with German badges so far. I do not want to appear rude but they look squeaky clean as in no sign of use? There is a moth nip on one of the shoulder boards, is there any moth nip on the rest of the tunic? It is the little things that one notices? I hope your gear is all good but I have some doubts as I own a normal type re-issue jacket and it has some subtle differences, I believe like you mine is correct though and am open to discussion too, I will post it up when I dig it out! Welcome by the way! Jock
    9. Guys, Well I know this is Hamburg related due to the cross as I recognise the symbol. It would appear someone has snipped of the long service from the mini pin, why I don't know? Shame about the mini pin. You can't win them all! Jock
    10. Guys, This caught my eye today together with another one which I will post seperately. They seemed nice honest bars! I like the local makers mark on the reverse. If this stuff keeps turning up more than TR I will have to consider collecting it as it is pleasing to the eye! Jock
    11. Robin, When you say accepted original, who is doing the accepting? I must admit the further from ground zero we get the more of these 'experts' seem to appear. What are the hard facts that make them 'accepted' originals? Cheers Jock
    12. Glenn, As you know WW1 is not my bag, thanks for the info, every day is a school day! Was there a reason or tradition for this? Cheers Jock
    13. Gordon, It is probably where I do my shopping as most of the holders of these are still living for the most part? I see more wartime passes than i do of these at the markets/house clearance/tip etc. I guess you can dial them up quite easily on ebay and the likes but for me i don't see them on the ground that often. When I do I normally never bother looking, it is only now that I know some of you guys have an interest in Bund stuff that I pick them up. Here is his promotions page. Jock
    14. The pz collection book is 1976 the other undated but likely same era. Jock
    15. Paul, No awards just his national service time, I will post his promotions page later today when I can take a picture. jock
    16. Larry, Not yet, my boy is streaching out his relationship so I expect a long engagement and my daughter had a bit of a cancer scare that put the brakes on having a family for 3 or 4 years she is clear but like I say there will be a delay. I do not know how many I have anymore I just remember unusual things like later dates. jock
    17. Odulf, It was a silver cross with a gold wreath the 50 was also gold on silver so not that clear to see if it were there at least not on my computer, I was hoping some one could zoom in a bit, when I do it goes pixelated. If he is 50 and it is his birthday then he has had a very hard paper round. Another possibility is Golden Hochziet I suppose? I was hoping it would be a 50 as I have never seen a picture of one in wear. I also thought it was for a private sector worker and not officials or Beamter, I read that somewhere recently and it may not be correct? That is why the reverse is for true labour as opposed to true service? I don't know for sure so I'm asking? Cheers Jock
    18. Thanks for the confirmation of its purpose Bernhard. Hope your keeping well! Jock
    19. Tony, Tthere are no dates on them but certainley from the war time to the 50s I would have thought? I beleive cigarettes were issued in rations and could also be purchased at the NAAFI? I don't know when it stopped being an issued item or when tins turned to card boxes? Jock
    20. Guys, Fresh out the skip, I asked the guy as he was 'kipping' if there was any military gear he said no and he was very surprised when I started jumping around happy, he then said well I don't know as I didn't load the trailers it is just junk from a friend. There was also a couple of WHW porcelane figures a lot of scrap leather but I just have no room for it and am only lifting the good stuff now. I think there would have been more in the middle but after 10 minutes it was all in a container ready to be burned. Very effecient! One day it will be an SS zelt I hope! jock
    21. It came up well, I shall have to find it again and post up the results. I am still busy as I have all of the chores as the wife is in UK for her fathers 70th birthday! I like your chicken thing, is it a wall hanger and how large is it? Cheers Jock
