    1. Found this site looks interesting. Unfortunately no more contact since the loss of his pet dog, I think a lot of us know how that feels, my garden is a pet cemetery! http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pickelhauben.net%2Farticles%2Fimages%2Ffakes%2Fventcompare%20copy.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pickelhauben.net%2Farticles%2FFakes.htm&h=272&w=450&tbnid=W63DiuhZmerolM%3A&docid=Z_5J-mNHkNTclM&ei=ytwNWJ3vIIyTa6v-keAM&tbm=isch&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=3978&page=2&start=121&ndsp=54&ved=0ahUKEwid_IWymPPPAhWMyRoKHSt_BMw4ZBAzCDIoMDAw&bih=974&biw=1920 Another site, both seem to show crowns thatare not cut out Kriss? http://images.google.de/imgres?imgurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pickelhauben.net%2Farticles%2Fimages%2Ffakes%2Fventcompare%20copy.jpg&imgrefurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pickelhauben.net%2Farticles%2FFakes.htm&h=272&w=450&tbnid=W63DiuhZmerolM%3A&docid=Z_5J-mNHkNTclM&ei=ytwNWJ3vIIyTa6v-keAM&tbm=isch&iact=rc&uact=3&dur=3978&page=2&start=121&ndsp=54&ved=0ahUKEwid_IWymPPPAhWMyRoKHSt_BMw4ZBAzCDIoMDAw&bih=974&biw=1920
    2. Kriss, By those grey washers and the split pins? Same for the chin strap, not a very sturdy arramgement?
    3. OK thanks Chris, I will pull the trigger on it then. Chris what are your views on the pointy hat on the other thread, is it made up of parts?
    4. Not keen on any of the hats. Do like the yellow and white arm band from the picture given, the rest seems a bit iffy!
    5. Certainly unusual, I like the storage marks, in a book perhaps?
    6. Like you say, how long is a piece of string? I have seen lots of post war ribbon bars that indicate DKiG, I suppose one would never know unless you have access to BW records but given it is hard enough to access war time records then I think in the world of Data protection it will be doubley difficult?
    7. Looks fine but a bit poor condition wise, they also made them for the post war BGS but they have a different look despite having the same war time marking. Finding a carrier and a stopper would be a hard task. Tis what it is!
    8. I guess it all comes down to how much spare cash you have. For me it is post war junk and any spare cash goes toward something of the period. Displays are good but I hate to see a mix of real and fake, mixed messages? I am just old fashioned and tight though! I would pay a fiver for one I suppose as a reference object.
    9. Guys, More today, brought home by an officer and left there when he went back to the front but was sadly killed. This is all that was left in the family from his service time. Sadly the dienstglass mark has been covered/removed. He did not however remove the waffen amt markings from the front of the glass, probably never noticed them! Glass is Karl Ziess Jena.
    10. Guys, More from today. Sadly de-nazified! The army is marked and dated 1940 the lufty is without any mark.
    11. It must be very unusual as it would have been a small unit? Nice items.
    12. Thanks for the feedback, a couple more pics. Found the small paper lable loose under the lining? The reverse of the chinstrap is like artificial leather, very brittle I don't want to touch it as I think it will break.
    13. Guys, Pointy hat and other hat? Alledgedley in an attic for a longtime? What do you think? More
    14. Norm, Are there not zinc core RK out threre or are those fake? Is there a period paper trail to follow anywhere? When would you think these went into production? Best
    15. I sweat if I have to pay more than a beer in value. I live and work in Germany and have many contacts that are not online thank god! I sweat if I have to pay! I search lots of containers and tips and you would be surprised about what people throw away including gold and cash, thick as mince some folks!
    16. No idea about PW movement but I am sure a lot of logistical and security issues played a part in their movement? Don't blame them for tabbing the extra 10 miles and very lucky they weren't turned round and sent back to the Soviets as the Americans did that to a few units I read somewhere.
    17. Not keen on the lack of detail on the oakleave wreath and again on the binding at the top and bottom of the oak leaves. Also the left arm of the swastica as you look is not square at the end. Good effort but I think post war for the reasons stated. What do you think yourself?
    18. Nice group, I don't think the round is anything to do with his injury as it has not been fired (no rifling grooves). Don't know if it is a tracer, it may be a AP with a heavy metal core too? Maybe he was doing a 'Baldrick' and had the bullet with his name on it? LOL.
