    1. The First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (Princess Royal's Volunteer Corps). Regards Glenn
    2. Paul Stoermer: FußAR 1 - Hptm. (18.6.15) Alfred Stoermer: FußAR 20 - Oblt. (28.11.14), Hptm. (18.4.16) Not really helpful as both were in the rank of Hauptmann long before May/June 1918. Regards Glenn
    3. That is correct. Offizieraspirant Friedrich Genz was commissioned as a Leutnant d.R. in IR 188 on 6.10.15. Regards Glenn
    4. Richard Moritz Paul Stockmar. Leutnant d.R.: 17.12.08 Oberleutnant d.R.: 18.4.15 Hauptmann d.R.: 29.4.18 Regards Glenn
    5. Vizefeldwebel Otto Gustav Stadie was commissioned as a Leutnant d.R. into RIR 6 on 24.10.14. Regards Glenn
    6. Has to be him. Only one officer with that name. Feldwebel Ernst-August Fuhrhop (I Hannover) was commissioned as a Leutnant d.L. Infanterie I on 23.4.18. Regards Glenn
    7. Seems to be the one; Vizefeldwebel Hans Robert Schiel was commissioned into Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 159 as a Leutnant d.L. I (Mülheim a.d.R.) on 24.12.14. Vizefeldwebel Hermann Schiel became a Leutnant d.R. in IR 75 on 16.1.16. Feldwebel-Leutnant Adolf Schiel became a Leutnant d.L. Fußartillerie I on 8.2.17. I cannot find any other non-active Schiels. Regards Glenn
    8. Yes, fairly unusual, although I assume the backdating of his Patent to 1912 was the reason. Regards Glenn
    9. His certificate of service shows a 20 September 1918 award date for his HOH3X. Regards Glenn
    10. I cannot find any officer of that name! To be an Oberleutnant d.R. during the war, he would have to have been a Leutnant d.R. before the war and I can find absolutely no one. I also checked the Bonn Adreßbuch for 1912 and the wartime editions and found no Querbach/er in either name index or the residents of Weberstr! Regards Glenn
    11. Vizefeldwebel Martin Heilmann was commissioned as a Leutnant d.R. in Infanterie-Regiment Nr. 15 on 15 January 1915. Regards Glenn
    12. Carl Servaes. As a captain in the general staff, he would have used the rank of Hauptmann even from a cavalry or train background. Regards Glenn
    13. Wilhelm Adolf Ritterbusch was commissioned into RIR 227 on 8.9.17. Regards Glenn
    14. Hi, Georg von Kalckstein. Flügeladjutant to Wilhelm II between 1894 and 1899. And Hearing as you say “just Prussian“, a fraction of his awards! This from the 1898 Prussian Rangliste. Regards Glenn
    15. Ah, thanks Dave, it was just abbreviated as Chr. in the 1890 Cassel Adreßbuch. Regards Glenn
    16. Walter Jenewein was commissioned as a Leutnant d.R. In IR 76 on 22.3.15. Regards Glenn
    17. David, initially from 1830 retired officers with permission to wear a uniform wore an epaulette without the crescent. In 1833, the same insignia as active officers was introduced, however with a special epaulette "Bridle" (Passanten) of black and white "zig-zag" patterned lace. This from Paul Pietsch's "Formations und Uniformierungs-Geschichte" 11 and 12 show the 1830 epaulette boards of a Premier-Lieutenant and Oberst respectively. 13 shows the 1833 epaulette bridle lace. Regards Glenn
    18. 23.9.58: Leutnant 22.9.62: Oberleutnant 31.3.66: Rittmeister 4.5.73: Major 18.9.80: Oberstleutnant 12.1.84: Oberst 4.8.88: Generalmajor 18.11.90: Generalleutnant 5.12.05: char. General der Kavallerie. Regards Glenn
    19. Correct as confirmed in the Offizier-Stammliste of IR 55. FAR 71 Hübner is Fritz (1913 Graudenz Adreßbuch). Regards Glenn
    20. That is confirmed also by his entry in the 1904 Allenstein Adreßbuch where is listed as Leutnant Kurt Fessel Regards Glenn
    21. David, his rather brief entry in the regimental history of HR 8: He was incorporated into the 2nd battalion (Mühlhausen) of 27. Landwehr-Regiment on 12 June 1826 and promoted to Rittmeister on 17 September 1827. The Mühlhausen Landwehr-Bataillon became the 2nd battalion of Landwehr-Regiment 31 in 1830. Ernst von Bodungen was promoted to Major in the cavalry permanent cadre (Besoldeter Stamm) of his battalion on 22 March 1843 and retired on 20 August 1844. The cabinet order of 5 February 1850 belatedly granted him the permission to wear the cavalry uniform of the 31. Landwehr-Regiment with retired insignia. He died on 26 June 1878. The only decoration shown in his final entry in the Prussian Rang-Liste (1844) is the officers' long service decoration. Regards Glenn
    22. Michael, I can add the Stabschef's promotion to Leutnant d.R. The then Vizefeldwebel d.R. Viktor Lutze was commissioned into Reserve-Infanterie-Regiment 15 per "All Highest Cabinet Order" of 19 January 1917. I am a little surprised that he received a brevet promotion to Oberleutnant after a couple of years of commissioned service. I cannot yet confirm that promotion. Regards Glenn
