    Everything posted by Gerd Becker

    1. Yes, i would agree, Rick. Thats indeed a very common combination and there is also a chance, that they belong together. Thanks for confirming my thoughts.
    2. mmmhh... not sure, if we should be worried, but i got it from a good source, so i guess, its okay. If we see another one of these, we probably should start to worry. Here is another one, which i haven?t posted yet. An 8 place bar with a Medal for Valiant Labor in first place and both Victory Medals, the Medal for Victory over Germany and the Medal for Valiant Labor in GPW
    3. Thanks, Bryan. I think, its not impossible, that the veteran prefered to wear his Leningrad-Medal in front of his Military Merit Medal. The suspension is aluminium. The ring from the MMM is uncut, like it seems, so i think ,he added the Leningrad maybe himself and made a two-place suspension of two singles? Thanks for the help with the stamp. Thats more, than i was able to understand.
    4. Hi everyone, here is a little group, i received from Alexei this week. Military Merit Medal w/o s/n and Medal for the Defense of Leningrad to Igor Pavlovitch Petrov I bought it, because of the Document to the Leningrad-Medal, which i didn?t have yet. Can anyone help with the stamp on the document? Thanks in advance Gerd
    5. Bryan, did you notice, that this one is identically to mine in post #4? Exactly the same combination
    6. Rick, thanks for the confirmation. Jim, no worries, happens to me too regularly Dan, i sent you a pm. Thanks again everyone Gerd
    7. Thanks, Jim. But its not unusual, that the VoG ribbon was worn as a replacement for the 25 years victory medal on last place. Here is one, which i believe to be original an worn.
    8. Gents, this was also in the lot, i got from Alexei today. It already looked puzzling on the photo, Alexei sent me, but i took it though, as it had a chance and it was part of the lot. Its either a nice original with an interesting combination or a put-together. The only thing, i am really worried about are the double 30years and 40 years Victory Medals, the rest could makes sense in my opinion. Any comments are welcome...
    9. Rick, thanks a lot! I agree on the one in scan 45, they are most likely Bravery Medals. Which makes it even better imo. And you are probably also right on the two bars belonging together. Didn?t notice it yet. Thats indeed a very nice and interesting combination with a wartime Lenin, great! Nr. 47 is indeed very nice with the gold bars. This one is unfortunately broken right after the VoG-Medal. I have another interesting bar, which i will post in a seperate thread, so keep your eyes open. Its eiter an interesting original or a weird put-together... The last one, i posted, is indeed a tin-backing plate, which is painted in a gray color. Looks like i got some nice ones in this lot Thanks again Gerd
    10. Forgot another nice one from the batch today. OPW 2nd class Red Star Bravery Medal Military Merit Medal Defense of... whaddayathink? Caucasus, right VoG 30 years Armed Forces 40 years Armed Forces LS-Medal 1st class
    11. And the last one for now is a simple 5 place bar with Victory over Germany medal, 20 years Victory, 30 years Victory, 60 years Armed Forces and 25 years Victory badge(i suppose). This one has an interesting construction, as if the rows of ribbons are single pieces.
    12. Here is a 3 place bar with plastic ribbons seperately attached like the normal ribbons.
    13. Next one is a 4 place ribbonbar with MMM, Caucasus (what else?) VoG and 30 years soviet Army&Navy.
    14. And one with Order of Lenin, Red Banner of Labor, Red Star, OPW2nd class (precedence?), Caucasus-Medal and Valorous Labor in GPW. Looks like this one is handpainted, very nicely done.
    15. Here is another nice ribbonbar with Defense of Caucasus and Defense of Polar Region Medals. The 25 years Victory badge is painted in black-golden color. Can someone help with ribbon Nr. 9?
    16. Exactly, Tony. Food, Housing and Work and social office (transl.?) benefits. Interesting document, which i have never seen before. Gerd
    17. Thanks for the correction, Carol. I obviously didn?t read the thread about Romanian fourrages good enough. best, Gerd
    18. Grrrreat picture, Rick Sal, who did just buy a Red Star???
    19. Alexandre, you found the absolutely best place for questions about ribbonbars with this forum. Yes, there is an order of precendence for the ribbons, but they differ from period to period and were not allways followed correctly. Keep your eyes open for Rick Research?s new ribbonbar-article, it will be the best, you will be able to find about ribbonbars of WW1 and WW2. It will answer all your questions, i am sure. And for the ribbons, check Lukasz Gaszewski?s website http://www.medals.lava.pl/ I am sure, if you post a closeup of the ribbonbar, then Rick or someone else can help you with the identification of the ribbons. best, Gerd
    20. Doc, that looks like a fourrage. The experts for French (or Romanian?) awards will be able to tell you to which order it belongs to. Or you make a search for "fourrage" and you will find, what you are looking for. Gerd
    21. Sergey, thanks for the stories and pictures of your relatives. I look forward to the other photos, you talked about. Gerd
