    1. Gentlemen, is it true, that on all Orders of the Red Star, which were awarded for Afghanistan the serialnumber is rotating tool engraved or are there any with hand engraved S/N too? Thanks in advance for your opinion best, Gerd
    2. Be careful, Rick. The obverse is indeed a real one, but its stolen from the Mondvor-website. I think, Andrei will be most interested. Beside that i don?t think, a RSFSR-Red Banner would make sense with such (non-mirror) reverse and such a mint mark. I hope, someone corrects me, if i am wrong. Gerd
    3. I would go with Alexei and the Mondvor website, Gold=2nd class, Silver=1st class

      wound badge

Correct. Only one silver WB was awarded for Spain.
    5. Rick, its not much, but here is, what i have about the 282nd Rifle Division: The 282nd Rifle Division was formed from early July to 20. August 1941 at Yuriev-Polskii in the Moscow Military District with: 872nd Rifle Regiment 874th Rifle Regiment 877th Rifle Regiment 826th Artillery Regiment Although it probably started forming around 10. July like the rest of the divisions numbered 270-290, the 282nd didn?t get a division commander assigned until 20. August, almost six weeks later and after the partially-formed unit had already been moved west from its original formation area (over 100 km northeast of Moscow) to Starodub, where it arrived on 15. August in the Bryansk Front-which was itself still forming. By 1. September the division was assigned to the 3rd Army in the Bryansk Front, and it remained in that army until after the german "Typhoon" offensive struck Bryansk Front at the end of September. Altough the divsion survived the encirclement battles near Bryansk, and was still carried in the 3rd Army Order of Battle on 1. November, there wasn?t much left of the 282nd RD by then. From 1. October to 15. November the average rifle division in Bryansk Front went from 10.000 men to 2.500 men, and the 282nd was apparently even smaller, because by 18. November it had dissapeared from the 3rd Army and Bryansk Front composition. Officially, the division was disbanded on 27. December, about six weeks after it ceased to be a combat-effective unit. best, Gerd
    6. Dolf, i have one about 1250 numbers higher than yours: http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1541 The serialnumber on yours is okay IMO. But you are right, 666 is evil!!!! Send it to me and i will do an exorcism with it Nice Red Stars Love them too! Gerd
    7. Ahhh, i know that one. Very interesting placement of the mint mark! Nice one, Alex. Thanks for posting it here
    8. I agree, its not good. Looks like it was casted from an original, but the pebbling is wrong and the letters aren?t sharp enough.
    9. Perfect example, Darrel. It has everything, i would want to see on a real one
    10. Wow, i have never seen one of these either. Must be quite rare. Nice find, Theo
    11. He?s hooked, he?s hooked Early Red Stars with Screwpost base, Orders of the Patriotic War 1st and 2nd classes, Orders of Glory 3rd class, Orders for Service to the Homland 3rd class are allways worth the research IMO. Early Red Stars are at about 100-200 Dollar, OPW 1st classes at 350-400 Dollar, OPW 2nd classes at 50-100 Dollar, Glory 3rd classes at ca 40-50 Dollar and Homeland 3rd classes at ca. 200-300 Dollar, so these are all more or less affordable. Hope, i could help. Gerd
    12. Cool Pictures, Terry Thanks for sharing. Gerd
    13. Andreas, very nice results You may not get the combat-citations, you are looking for, but you get excellent examples, of what these awards were given for. I am still very very unhappy, that i missed it. You could ease my pain and send it to me now Just kidding, lovely group with most interesting research Gerd
    14. Looking at the Order of Battle of the 152nd and the 204th Rifle Divisions, he served in, i notice, that Comrade Mukhin was Soldier in the 1st Guards Army and in the 1st Guards Rifle Corps at some time, could the commemorative badge be for one of these units? Can someone show a commemorative badge for these units?
    15. Dolf, thanks for starting this thread and for the info about these badges. It seems, like the black sub-badges, you have are quite scarce, as i haven?t seen any of them before. Found an interesting link about Russian Submarines, while googling: http://www.armscontrol.ru/atmtc/Arms_syste..._table_base.htm Gerd
    16. Yeah, Christophe, you know, it will be a nice filler on my display, until an awarded one comes my way...
    17. Dolf, i meant both, content and display-case Sorry, should have been more exact. You allways see the ship and sub badges going on ebay on a regular basis and most of them are really ugly, but i have seen nicer earlier ones, but never saw a reference for them. Maybe its time to start a thread about these badges?! Gerd
    18. Very nice, Dolf. There?s a lot of Medals, i am still missing When you have some time, you could post your ship and submarine badges. I know absolutely nothing about them. Great display-cases, btw, especially the last one. Gerd
    19. Same here. I would have bought them, if Doc wouldn?t have taken them. Very nice, Doc Gerd
    20. Jens, the Liberation of Prague is okay, but the Vienna Medal looks indeed a little strange. I am curious, what other members will say... Gerd
    21. I found this list on axishistory Factbook with book recommendations: http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=5194 Beside Glantz and Erickson there are a few other authors listed.
    22. I have tried every online-translator available and all of them translate ПЛИЕВ with PLIYEV Gerd
