    1. Outstanding medal bar! Anyone else notice the officer wearing the Saxon Albrecht order x from the lower left (12/8/13)?
    2. Brophy lived a hard life when he was younger...from the famine to the Crimea. thanks for the additional info. mr. Otto. Do you have more you can post?
    3. Any chance I can purchase a copy of your Finnish rolls? also, does anyone have the completed. Saxe Meinigen rolls that Rick Lundstreom finished?
    4. Actually, in the photo of Pvt. Brophy he is wearing a similar medal. it was identified as an " Army and Navy " medal. I think it might be Army Temperance Society.
    5. Yup, what are the sizes? They look shiny...like "prinzen" sized versions worn by some court officials and imperial Guard officers.
    6. Whoa! Look at the civilian in post 35 bottom row, right. ....he's got a medal of Zeal (Russian) but also a national fencing medal? top row with bar? am I correct?
    7. Still, it'd be a $100-125 medal over here. I blame Ed Haynes, whose research has made Indian stuff much more popular over the past decade. This guy earned his medal though, ESP. In Afghanistan. My book details numerous skirmishes with the Afghan tribesmen.
    8. Very cool. It's not often one sees an infantry officer transfer into a cavalry regt., even if he did start in the Guards. Looks like he got the DKs as a retirement present?
    9. Let me know if I can be of any typing service! I'll be thrilled to help.
    10. Yup, I noticed. I was wondering if it was a Variation or because of a different association.
    11. PLM, REOx,COx, HHOx and a black wound badge but only a China noncom? admiral somebody I reckon, but how the heck did he get the swords?
    12. the DRK medal? Yup, but it's black and white though and not as clear as your photograph. Odds are he's on the Saxe-whatchamacallit House Order civil merit list somewhere....
    13. ......and he has a French Legion d'Honner (Knight?) too!
    14. Hmmm......my book say 1922 onwards. I don't know about the Saxe -Haus order medal. I thought they were awarded up until the end of 1918. Rick would have know instantly.
    15. By the way, there is the same medal, a single, for sale on ebay.de now for 150 Euros. Safe to say its a $125 medal alone.
    16. Holy Cow!! that's an awesome little 1871 veterans' bar. is it yours? :0 Going back to the first medal bar, the wording will be:"Thur. Landesmaennerverein v.(on) R.Kr." (roterKreuz) ....aNd below the cross "Fuer truer Mitarbeit" (one adds an e to a word in German where there's an umlaut and one does not have that phonic symbol upon ones iPhone) . The medal was awarded in 1922-1935 (maybe longer in the Third Reich, but doubtful). I think it was authorized in 1921. The other medal Rogi pointed out on pg. 2 is for a different State DRK association.
    17. sweet! Dienstauszeichnung des Thueringer Landesvereins von Roten Kreuz, 1. Stufe. Number 232 of the DRK book, given for 10 years service in the Thuringian Landverein DRK (1922+) ....made by Conrad of Weimar. What you think is a b is a v in old suterlien.
