    1. It's been awhile since I posted a new Imperial EK2. Just getting harder to find marks i don't have. here's what has to be one of the harder marks to find, a 925 on the ring.
    2. These are probably the nicest looking EKs out there. Here's my two. The one on the left is marked Silber the other is marked 930.
    3. Thanks, I forgot to check that site. 925 is listed over there, although I only use the site as a guideline, not gosphel.
    4. Apparently there is known 925 marked EK2s. All the same, you don't see them much. I'm starting to feel better about this purchase, although I'm certainly open to more opinions.
    5. I went to a local show here in Ontario today and found this. It's a 1914 EK2 that is marked 925 for silver content on the ring. I've never heard of an EK2 being marked 925, just 800, but I guess anything is possible. The cross seems fine to me. I'm just wondering about the mark. Has anyone heard of or seen an EK2 marked 925? I know 1st classes are seen with this mark, but 2nd class, I'm not sure. Do i have something nice here or is there something else going on?
    6. These factories probably worked like any other business. Careless or hungover employees, stock shortages, use whatever is available that works, who knows. I'll have a better look when I get back home in a few weeks. Maybe this will be a rare oddity.
    7. So is this original to the cross? I hope it's not a replacement someone added. It never looked like it was.
    8. The S-W cross has a cracked core and a repaired catch. Wait for a better one, as it's not a tough maker to find.
    9. Looks like a good KO, but I think the catch may be repaired. Looks like a good job though.
    10. True about the mark being something else. I have a Prussian EM belt buckle that is marked with 1 on the back. I doubt that's made by Decshler.
    11. Well if it's a 7, it would indicate Paul Meybauer as the maker. Now, was this old stock, because it looks like a period piece as opposed to a TR era made piece. Maybe the Meybauer firm had old stock left over and stamped thier official number on it after 1939 or whenever they brought in the number system. Meybauer did make crosses during both world wars, but as far as I know, no one has identified or come up with a Meybauer marked EK2. I have always wondered about this as they made many EK1's and both classes in WW2. Of course, this all depends on it being a 7 and not something else. It could still be a letter, poorly struck and hard to read like so many from this era. The ribbon looks like it came right out of the WW1 era.
    12. If you liked this thread I have a similar one here, that was actually inspired by Frontkampfer's thread on another forum. I have a few variants on it. Here's the link. http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=13872
    13. Yes, but some good ones are non magnetic, are sometimes 1 piece and not all are marked on the ring. Many are unmarked. Fortunatley, 1914 EK2s are a fairly safe area to collect that has not been heavily hit with fakes.
    14. This era is full of patriotic items, many of them with Iron Crosses on them, such as jewellry, porcelain, postcards etc. There did not appear to be much regulation as to what or who made these items. They were not official I don't believe, but they can make a nice category to collect.
    15. Look at the uneven corners on the reverse shot.
    16. I don't like the looks of it. The pin alone does not look right.
