Yes, the HOH3X is really high Godet's quality... It doesn't detract at all from the bar that is a Spangenstück...

Here it is... Nothing special... I think this bar was put together by Godet; see the neatly folded ribbons in the front, the pin construction, the stitches on the reverse of the backing and the not so perfect folding at bottom on the reverse...

Well... It was for sale in a German Auction, and as soon as I saw it, I immediately knew that this kind of combination of awards must be quite unique. Furthermore a fellow collector confirmed my thoughts. C

Finally found Falke's medal bar and reunited with the rest of the documents and pictures... Someone told me that also his civilian tuxedo bar (Frankspange) is around in Germany, lying in a collection without the knowledge of the current owner about the wearer's name. On the bar there is no Hamburg Hansakreuz, like on Falke's ribbon bar or miniature chain, but I didn't find any documents confirming his bestowal of such cross. I think he was a bit naughty, wearing a cross he didn't actually formally and officially get... But at least he didn't have the guts to wear it on his full scale medal bars... Enjoy the pictures.... Hi Trevor! Sometimes from the pictures is hard to tell if it's gold, bronze-gilt or silver-gilt, but once you have such a piece in your hands it's easy to see the differences, especially the weight and the quality. ciao, C

Hi Jason, The 8th decoration must be the Order of the Roman Eagle without swords (no swords devices on the ribbon), since it follows another Italian decoration (croce al merito military). The 6th decoration is the Zvonimir order without swords, the devices on that it's correct. Ciao, Claudio

Very interesting and complete group of a Bavarian WWI general... lots of interesting information about his career, family and insights into the struggle for power within the Oberkommando des Heeres and its military and strategic implications. I would warmly suggest a visit at the castle of Ingolstadt. Right now there's still a great exhibition about "Napoleon and Bayern"... well done, with a lot of historical insights and also objects of historically very important provenance (Napoleon, his wife Josephine, of the Wittelsbacher Dynasty, etc...). Unfortunately the exhibition finishes in October (now). Enjoy the pictures. ciao, Claudio
