It is a jeweller added safety catch, so as to secure the pin firmly in position.

I think I might win this one. Gold - 894. PS Sorry about the copyright but it is embedded and to remove, I would have to re-shoot the badge.

Hi Nick, I should think it echoes the DLRG (Deutsche Lebens Rettungs Gesellschaft) Grundschein, i.e. basic proficiency certificate / award. This woud have been followed by the Pruefungsschein and subsequently Lehrschein. Presumably the same thing here, i.e. Wasserwacht Pruefungsschein, etc. I'll try and make some pics of my DLRG grouping. Best, Toby.

Hi Bob, Thanks for replying. I do remember reading in the Phil Baker book (one of them anyway) that there were no printed HJ armbands. I adopted this viewpoint for some time but following conversations with a couple of collectors began to wonder if I was mistaken. Something else I had noticed is that the only AHS stamps I could find on items of clothing and equipment were in a basic 'font'. The stamp on this mimics the embroidery style on AHS straps. Anyway, I will happily go with your view on this. Better safe than sorry. All the best, Toby.

Hi Everyone, I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this armband I recently acquired. As you can see, it is a printed version. However, what makes it interesting are the ink stamps: on the outer side of the armband, is a circular stamp - I can discern one word - Gebietsfuehrerschule (Territory Leader School) - thereafter I'm stuck. At the bottom of the stamp, I suspect it says 'Gebiet [number] and on the right hand side, I imagine is the name of the school. Any ideas? Also, on the inside of the armband is an ink stamp for AHS - Adolf-Hitler-Schule. I believe the armband is original; although, please correct me if I am mistaken. It can't be too difficult to add some stamps to an armband. However, the lettering in the stamps looks correct for the period. Also, the consistency between the Gebietsfuehrerschule stamp and the AHS stamp. Am I correct to think that attendance at a Gebeitsfuehrerschule followed attendance at an AHS? Can anyone enlighten me as to the relationship between the two types of school? Thanks for looking. All the best, Toby.

Thanks to you all for taking a look at this. I'm presently negotiating to buy it so don't have it in hand at the moment. Once I have it (assuming successful), I'll post some better images. All the best, Toby. -

Hi Everyone, I realise these aren't the best pics (a little small) but I would be grateful for your opinions on this Prinzen EK2. Based on the photos (I don't have it in hand yet), it doesn't appear to have a stepped core, or the worrying paint pattern to the core (as detailed by Marshall in another thread). The detailing does look to be pretty strong / sharp. Any thoughts? Thanks and all the best, Toby. -
I'm afraid, to my mind also, the sports pin is not good. Here is my 1939 example: as you can see it is in line with the example posted by Peter. To me, there looks to be quite a difference in quality between mine and Peter's examples and the one in question: aside from the features already mentioned, just look at the eagle's head. It doesn't seem to have the severity of expression that I would expect for a period pin. The above said, I could always be mistaken and am voicing my opinion only. Not a pin I do or would feel comfortable with though. Sorry! Best regards, Toby.

Hi Gordon, Thanks for replying. I must confess, in my excitement of establishing a link to Glaser, I had overlooked that it could be the retailer's location. However, there may still be hope, for there would seem to have been something written above Dresden in the remaining space of the label. Alas, thus far, I have been unable to make anything of this. Best, Toby.

Hi Everyone, Thought this might be of interest to members of this forum: an LDO case for the EK1, with ink stamp, L/58. What makes this interesting though, is the paper label to the underside of the case for "Dresden", thereby associating the L/58 mark with Glaser and not in this 'case' (what a pun!) Souval. I should mention that my photo of the L/58 mark isn't the best. The "8" of the mark is a little hard to discern in life and could even be a "3". However, the "Dresden" label, firmly establishes (IMHO) that it can only be L/58. So, anyone have a non-Souval L/58? Best, Toby.
