    1. Here is a bar that I have been offered. I have passed on it but I wanted to post it to make sure I have not missed something. The things that give me pause are the new ribbons, the use of smaller ribbons and the style of bar. I gues it could be a remount that was just kept very clean but I want to see what you think. I can still buy this bar. I have been out for a while so I am a little cold.
    2. Thanks for the help. I had not noticed any maker marks on these but I looked at the pinned thread and once I knew what I was looking for I found one single mark on the French piece. It seems to be a boar's head on the bottom wreath tie. It is hard for me to make out as it was struck very deep into the medal. These are really nice pieces to look at. I focus on Imperial German items but I do appreciate the beauty of these.
    3. These are hard to find. If you look hard you will find a couple a year. I feel they were for civilian attire. I can't remember seeing one in a photo but it would be hard due to the size.
    4. I agree. I just cannot find another example marked this way. It was an intersting surprise. I new there was a mark there but the old eyes just couldn't see it!
    5. I have recently purchased these two pieces at an antiques show. A dealer had all furniture and these! I am an Imperial German collector so these are out of my area but I am smart enough to recognize what they are. The Italian piece looks to be gold. I was hoping the cases would help to date the pieces. If anyone wants to trade for a nice German PLM let me know!!!
    6. I have had this bar in my hands twice. I did not like the way the EK2 ribbon was done. It looked modern and done by a different hand. The MVO4 looked like it had swords that were removed. I missed the other ribbons. Jan seems like a decent guy so if you did return it I wouldn't think he would give you a hard time.
    7. One of my good, off-line collecting friends has an EK1 engraved to this man! I have seen pictures and it looks correct to me.
    8. This is the first second class eagle I think I have ever owned. I have searched here and there and I do not find any others marked in the same manner. A Meybauer made piece for sure but I see no other B.PFEIFFER marked examples. Anyone else have one of these?
    9. I have not been collecting much as of late but I came across this piece. There was a discussion recently that I read in regards to one of these and it sparked my interest. This is the small "W" version which would seem to be rare. From what I can see it differs from the one posted by Wildcard but seems to match the one in my little OEK. I bought it based on some poor photos and I will only be out $5 or so if it is a fake and I return it. For the record, I like it. All of the gold wash is long gone but it has been around a while. Any opinions will be appreciated!
    10. Gentlemen - When I bought this bar I assumed it was to someone too cheap to buy all of the "extras". The condition and age of all of the ribbons are the same but the St.Henry has some extra dirt on it from some point in the past. I am out again and have not had a chance to black light it. I will say that in my experience it is a good bar that the owner omitted the devices from. @Deruelle - you mention there is something "special" that disturbs you about the bar - can you share that with us? This came from an older collection and it can go back with no problem. I still like it.
    11. Rudi, I am not sure what you mean. Can you tell me more? I notice that the medals are a different design as yours has a shield behind the lion.
    12. Here is another pick up from this week on the road. This is the odd type of thing I like to have in the collection!
    13. A new ribbon bar for the collection. I have not been collecting much lately but this was a nice addition.
    14. Chip, There are no other markings other than little proof marks all over. It has a wood handle which seems odd. Most I have noticed were black plastic.
    15. Michael, Thanks for that. I purchased this from a guy that usually has some militaria but it is typically over priced for me. He had this BWM and one other that was beat pretty badly and was to an ASC man. I left it behind.
    16. Kevin, It is to: 5547 PTE.J.HOEPELMAN. CAMB.R. As you noted it is very nice with just slight wear.
