    1. Got this nice picture recently and beeing a little bit confused on the 3rd and 4th ribbon on the ribbonbar. The ribbons are: EK2 with Wiederholungsspange Ostmedaille ? ? Frontfightercross Finnland Libertycross with swords 3rd or 4th class as well he is wearing a EK1 with Wiederholungsspange The shoulderboards are not fully vissible what makes it hard to id the attachement properly. At least his rank should be Hauptmann on the pic. As the picture is made by the Fotographer Spoerl in Gera, i would assume that no. 3 and 4 on the ribbonbar came from Reuss - what are your thoughts?
    2. Very nice grouping and definately not a subject i would start "sleeping" ... definately not! Regarding the soldiers unit, which is it? And if you know that, are there some kind of regimental histories or anything else getting to know, what his unit did, while he was serving there? Thanks, and definately keep going! Christian
    3. Iron Cross 2nd Class - 13.11.1914 Iron Cross 1st Class - 27.06.1918 Honorcross for War Merits - 25.10.1918 Wounded badge in Black - 15.5.1920 Honorcross for Frontfighters - 01.02.1935
    4. hm ... strange ... could the first decoration be a striped tiger (due to the pendand of the order)? so, chinese warlords "addoped" japanese uniformstyle?
    5. Hy Jeff, thanks a lot for the numbers! (and a book i'll add to the other medalbooks i have). Quiet interesting which nationalities are amongs the recieving ones! For further research on these (to get names) can you lead me to something? (even an archive / gazette / ...) as british medals are not really my speciallty. Thanks a lot so far and i'm happy, especially about the numbers! Christian
    6. Thanks! unfortunately the only other pic i have so far is this one (sadly not larger in size)
    7. Very nice bar! And regarding the battle clasps - exactly the style (maker) which are very often found on Württemberg bars from the war 1870/71.
    8. Does a list exists showing the nationalities of awardees who got the DSO - or even a list of the names of the DSO awardees? (like Imperial German Award Rolls? - as i know that the awards to Brits are gazetted, but those to Non-Brits are not, at least thats my understanding). Thanks in advance Christian
    9. Hello all, i'm quiet sure, that this is a japanese Uniform - though i'm quiet unsure about the rank insignia (Rank and Branch) - help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance Christian
    10. after looking again and again at the pic i would also say it is the Royal Order of Kalakaua I - Knight (or probably Officer - denoted by the clasp)
    11. Hy Phil, i'm quiet unhappy to tell you the bad news. The bar is newly mounted and at least from the pics the Schlesian Eagle and the Austrian Commemorative Medal for ww1 look faked - for the others, i would have to have better pics to make judgements. All the best Christian
    12. Thanks a lot for the information Emmanuel! This tunisian order i have seen rarely and never with any info comming with it. Regarding that the current Order of Merit is awarded by different Ministrys now, do they have different ribbon-colors for the different Ministry or is it impossible to see just by the piece which Ministry awarded it? So that only the document will tell? Thanks a lot Christian
    13. Thanks for your thoughts! Was rather sure about the HoH, but had difficulties with the Oldenburg Noncombattant - the a.D. would explain it - as nothing else i can imagine off. For the Austrian Decoration i would be more "happy" with a wreath - though after in specting it again closely - its definately been there for more than a few years. (Probably the wreath as a War Decoration in Austrian-Hungaria, Bulgaria, Croatia ... was not that understandable for the guy, why he asked for swords). Christian
    14. Got this 7 place ribbonbar today and i'm quiet confident about its originality - regarding the construction and everything. But the ribbons and devices ... - EK 2 - Houseorder of Hohenzollern (wrong device missing its crown, as there is no Campaignmedal makeing a Crown Order/ Red Eagle Order with Swords likely) - Oldenburg (Noncombattant Friedrich August Cross???? for a EK2 and HoH combattant having a Frontfighercross?) - Frontfighterscross - Long Service Decoration for 25 Years Officer / 20 Years Landwehr Officer - Centenial Medal - Austrian MVK with Swords ... so what are your thought on that one?
    15. To my knowledge neither on horses nor on other "winning" animals medals itself where bestowed on those agricultural competitions. They "only" got either some kind of sash (BLUE) or in most cases a small button with ribbons to it (YELLOW) - as on the attached pic. Though the Medals where awarded only to the owners. In quantity, these agricultural-competition awards are not wearable. Those wearable ones, as you show, are worn on a long ribbon around the neck (like the big russian "for zeal" medal or the big "Herzog Alfred" medal from sax-coburg-gotha). And as these where never intended to be worn on medalbars, the size and also weight was ok - to wear as neck award.
    16. The area on the left hand side naming "Schwarze Pumpe" is quiet a well know (or famous) industrial area. Here more about that area (in english) - http://www.industriepark.info/en/index.htm
    17. Sorry, no guess about the variation - but i found the 2nd place mentioned in the citation (unfortunately some "language-looses" - as it is Klein-Partwitz).
    18. tried it to catach with the camera - though it works better with this image. true, the leather backing could quiet well been for the flight jacket - just the plane on it is rather "odd" to see
    19. thanks a lot! and yes, mine seem to be not as old as yours - even though the quality on mine is quiet high. Christian
    20. Hy Uwe, thanks for the info! Do you know a timeframe for these - from when till when where they issued? All the best Christian
