Thanks Rick. In the meantime I found the SEHO award to Steegmann. The LüH is new for me. Can you please look for Hptm Hans Barth. All this guys were commanders of LZ 87 but the order is unknown. I thought it is possible to find out in which order they are when I see the award date. I don't have another source. Maybe it works. I know that Steegmann was commander of LZ 87 from at least Sept. to Dez. 1916. Regards Alex

Apart of the fact that the pinback awards are mounted on the bar, i would say that the medal bar itselfs is genuine. I can't assess the bars, especially the "2.SEEFLIEG.ABT." but possible that this are original too. We need better pictures of the see pilot badge but it looks better than the common fakes. The army wound badge doesn't match to an navy pilot but overall it doesn't look bad. This include not, even if all awards are original, that the group is original. Regards Alex

Sorry Rick but is this a requirement for questions. If so most of the users had no contribution to the research community, including me. In this special case you have one of the best aviation experts on this planet, and a vary gentle person. I think Gunnar help everyone who ask for help. That's the experience I made with him. Don't forget that there are more ways of publication than this forum or online cuminities. Gunnar was involved and many publications of other authors. He was more in the background. But without his knowledge most of this publications have not been realized. Not all make the research in the limelight as you. Regards Alex

What a great group you showed here. Really great documents. I would be vary glad to read all the pages of his log books. This contains a lot of important informations about the training of navy pilots. It seems he had a single-seater training short after his pilot training. I have a log book of an navy land pilot who had a simillar training. First a basic pilot training and after that the single-seater training at the school at Langfuhr. This was the second single-seater school of the navy. I think your grandfather never was involved as pilot in WW1. Regards Alex

This is Not correct. I saw regular Ehrenpreise awarded 1918. Like the One awarded to Fl.Ob.Mt. Giese on 23.05.18 or the One to Lt.z.S. Lodemann from 11.06.18. This are only two example. I saw the one from Weitze and the other one you mention. I don't know what this are but since I don't see a group coming with a document no one know if this was a official replacement for the Ehrenpreis. If I remember the other one comes with a name of an pilot who don't have an confirmed victory. I think it is not useful to make baseless rumors. Regards Alex
