    1. Looks like a post war photo to me. Look at the belt, and lack of knee and elbow patches. Otherwise, a superb photo!
    2. I think the day of fair deals or bargains on anything 'Cheka' are long gone. Approach with caution, and presume the worst!
    3. The 'Target practice helmet is very nice. It's interesting to see how many rounds sis not penetrate, but as mentioned above the 'black stain sort of implies that someoone may have been wearing it when one made it through..
    4. Another nicely 'Soviet' piece of Belarusian enamelwork. A good quality 3 piece badge.
    5. The anchor shape is a post war one. Probably from the 70's, but I'm not sure of the maker. Early ones have much curvier anchors.
    6. Hi Bryan, it's a very nice pre war badge with seperate hammer and sickle. These are hard to find in good condition with all prongs intact!
    7. This arrived today, it's very heavy brass, which surprised me as I was expecting slightly poorer workmanship. A nice award with the state seal and flag!
    8. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Soviet-Russian-Order...1713.m153.l1262 How long befor these turn up on tunics as 'combat issue'
    9. I'm not convinced. The Poles would have had to set up a mint for this. I think we may be looking at a fantasy piece. I think its highly unlikely that we wouldn't have encountered one of these before, particularly for a relatively common award. Having said that it does appear to be very well made, and I'd take a chance at the right price!
    10. I've never seen anything like that before! But The Soviets have little history of 'miniatures'.
    11. That's truly amazing, If only we could turn the clock back a few years..
    12. I thought I'd revive an old thread! Belarus now add the name of the unit to the badge. Here's what I have so far!
    13. I suppose if you give one set of conscripts a medal, and not others it's a little unfair. I would have thought NCO's would qualify though.
    14. Tho honourable soldier of Belarus is actually an award in itself. Something above an Otlichnik, but below military orders. However I do agree, that the awarding of this medal will probably be rather generous.
    15. You have had to have been in continuous service in the army between 1918 and 2008 According to the statutes of the 80th anniversary award: * Generals and the officers of the armed forces of republic Belarus', internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of republic Belarus', railroad troops of republic Belarus', troop unit of 04152 and other military formations, created in accordance with the legislation of republic Belarus'; * Heroes of the Soviet Union; * complete kavaliers of the order of glory; * Honorable soldiers of the armed forces of republic Belarus; * military leaders, including those living in the CIS, who made a large contribution to the maintenance of the high alert of troops of the red banner Belorussian military district, which actively participate in the activity of veteranskikh organizations, the patriotic training of young people and soldiers; * Civilians who, made a large contribution to strengthening of defense capability republics Belarus', patriotic training young people and soldiers.
