    1. Here is a larger scan clearly showing the FP cyphers and special shoulder board of his role. Herr Drehmel served with: Feldpostamt z.b.V 781 initially under Armee Postmeister Nord then APM AOK 2 in central Russia. (Kenn Nr. 594 - cover number for a Field post office) Feldpostamt 262 of 262 Infanterie Division. (Kenn Nr. 437) Feldpostamt 1544 of 544 Grenadier Division. (Kenn Nr. 213) /Ian
    2. At last I have found time to post!!! Here is mine to Feldpostbote, later Feldpostschaffner Paul Drehmel.
    3. Not only an interesting Soldbuch which we chatted about at the time Gordon, however what is also interesting to me are the pages from the Wehrpaß. I have a Soldbuch and ancillary documents to a member of 1 Kavallerie, later 24 Panzer Division who was transferred mid 1944 to Grenadier (?) Regiment Kreta and interestingly page 11-12 and 32-33 are the only pages of the Wehrpaß that exist!!! Obviously either something common to that Division or coincidence?!?! Of course other units did this and individuals but it is annoying that the rest of the document probably got tossed in the bin or on the fire! /Ian
    4. Hi Gordon, As sent to you the other day....a nice group of Steifendienst personnel!!! In particular at least one member of this group was a convalescing solider! /Ian
    5. Very nice Kevin! Not very often seen Soldbuch to a Feldpostbote!!! I have a couple but to be honest that is all I have seen in 10 years or so. I did have mine shown on WAF but it is so long ago...or greater than 5 years!!! that the thread is now gone. Will try and post an image of mine on Friday when I got home.....like yours he wears "FP" cyphers on the epps. /Ian
    6. Just found this post, very interesting groups! I have 3 groups to U-170 and will post them later, unable to at the moment.......just to add a few more names to the group photo: 1. Oberbootsmannsmaat Rudolf M?hlbauer RKT 2. Oberbootsmannsmaat Gerhard R?del DKiG 3. Oberfunkmaat Willy Gr?ber /Ian Ah.....cant add the photo as it is too large....will have to re-think!
    7. I think it is more Teilnahme am ROB-Lehrgang der Div.Nr. 192 ROB - Reserve Offizier Bewerber - Reserve Officer Candidate /Ian
    8. There is an in depth reply on the site below....where the owner did not come back and say thank you! http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/sho...ad.php?t=293561
    9. That would be: Kapit?n zur See Albrecht Schmidt. H?herer Kommandeur des H?heres Kommando der Unterseebootsausbildung (H.K.U.) 15.1.1943-May 1945. /Ian
    10. According to: Wehrmacht Sanit?ts Vorschrift, Teil 8, Krankheiten Verzeichnis: Code 109 is Darmkatarrh und Magendarmkatarrh - litterally, Stomach/Intestine catarrh and gastrointestinal catarrh...gastroenteritis?? /Ian
    11. I'm not at home at the moment but I do have an original book listing KM illness codes....they number 1-195 or so....I will check when I get home on Tuesday. Wehrmacht illness codes number 1-36 and defect codes number 1-80. /Ian
    12. Or can you? What if these were posthumous awards? (sorry Andy just read your thread re: possible posthumous DK!) Any clues as to date or year of birth in the newspaper article John? Normally there is a mention such as "born 1918 in Essen the son of a butcher etc". There are 7 listed on the German war graves site.........out of those this is the only one that could be a match!?!?!? Nachname: Heinemann Vorname: Erwin Dienstgrad: Geburtsdatum: 17.02.1918 Geburtsort: Todes-/Vermisstendatum: 01.09.1942 Todesort: Russland Regards, Ian
    13. Again it's difficult to say for sure....I have examples where the guy has been entitled to both classes of KVK and only the 1st class has been entered in the Soldbuch or Wehrpa?! Simply as they appear to be crossed out at the time seems to suggest that it was an error. Regards, Ian
    14. Difficult to say if he received it or not, however seeing as he does not have any other awards maybe the clerk on the day picked up the wrong Wehrpa? to fill in! He does not appear to have the first grade PAB but if he did have sufficient for the II grade then that could have been waved, nor does he appear to have any combat awards! He was trained as a clerk, radio operator, Pz. commander, equipment and weapons adminstrator, latterly as the Hauptfeldwebel or "Der Spie?"!.....perhaps not in front line combat then!?!? The scan is a bit blurry but is that a KVK I m/S? Is the KVK II m/S mentioned anywhere? Unfortunately I too have examples where awards have been crossed out like this and the buying point was not these awards as there was (like yours!) no authorising signature. These are not officially erased awards due to being foreign for example or revoked however! It is a nice Wehrpa? but perhaps with a mistake! Regards, Ian
    15. Thanks for the info John, Interestingly I replied last night but for some reason that post is not here!?!? I did find a little info regarding 5 Bttr. being named Kleiner Sark or something like that!? Cheers, Ian
    16. Hi Simon, That I do not know yet....I have a copy of the Channel Islands Occupation Society (CIOS) Review 1983 which gives a little info on the unit and an in depth book on "Batterie Lothringen" by one of the CIOS committe members but only just started researching it! I was very pleased to get this, Marine Artillerie/Flak is also an interest of mine but so far I have not found what actions the Battery was involved in....no doubt as you say shooting down aircraft. I need to find where 5 Batterie was.....there were some actions on Sark I believe February/March 1945 with the Allies but I need to reseach that info again. Maybe John Temple-West might be able to point me in the right direction? Cheers, Ian
    17. Here's a late war citation for the Kriegsabzeichen f?r die Marine Artillerie on poor quality paper. Interestingly it is dated 21.2.1945 and signed by Vizeadmiral Friedrich H?ffmeier, Kommandant der Seeverteidigung Kanalinseln. Hauptgefreiter Karl... was a member of FP Nr. 41645 C - 5 Batterie, Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 604. Also possibly 2 Batterie! From what little info I can find out, Marine-Artillerie-Abteilung 604 was on Guernsey and somewhere on the internet (not found again!) there was mention of 5 Batterie being on Sark!? 3 Batterie (Batterie Lothringen) is well known for being stationed on Jersey at Noirmont Point. Enjoy, Ian
    18. Thanks Mike, Actually surfing the net I found out a little about the award and that it was not favoured by the Third Reich, even to the point of stopping the career of certain individuals if they continued to wear their award on their uniform. If I remember correctly the thread was on the Axis History site....Members of the Johanniter Order /IAn
    19. Once again many thanks Glenn, I don't have Dietrich's items yet but they are on the way to me, unless they are sent to you again and you pay for them But I will post more when they arrive. One more question though, what exactly is the Ehrenritter of the Johanniter-Orden and is there any way of finding out the date of this award? again, Ian
    20. Looks ok to me, however what stamp was used to authorise this award? Currently obscured by the Destroyers Badge..... Yes, signed by Erich Bey. Regards, Ian
