    1. I agree on this. Looking at exemples from most German auction houses and well known dealers gives the same outcome. Looks a tricky one to me too.
    2. Thanks. No problem for me, it is not mine. I believe the owner found them on a flee market.
    3. Don't know if this is the right place and the photos are terrible. Yet I hope someone can help. The photos were send to me with the question if any could help. On the reverse it has the text : "GES.GESCH" and on the screw it says "DANZIG 1941" with 1941 underlined. So What were these? WHere were they for? Could they be real?
    4. Nice do you also have a scan of the reverse of the booklet? Nice to see the difference.
    5. Aha, many thanks this clears a lot for me. This is mine cover
    6. With all respect it is Russian Federation medal, instituted on June 7th 1993 by decree nr 5336-1 of the President of the Russian Federation: Russian Federation 50 years Can I conclude from your answer that this Russian Federation Medal was issued to an Ukranian Veteran? And is the booklet in total Ukranian or just the writing on it.? And did we translate the name correct?
    7. Can anyone translate the written information for me on this booklet? What we have been able to find out so far (any corrections welcome): Name: Petro Danilovich Mandzibura Date 29 ?????? 1995
    8. Any further dates known on receiving the decorations an on the persons?
    9. I be;lieve only records for names with A to B are online yet. But I can be mistaken offcoruse
    10. Naval Attache in the Netherlands, then it must be possible to find something related to him in the Naval archives (Den Helder) or the Instituut voor Militaire Geschiedenis in the Hague.
    11. Nice one, thanks Jef
    12. I think this will have been misspelled. This for the London Gazettes where they all state Edward
    13. I know he received the Dutch Commander grade of the Order of Oranje Nassau, London Gazette, March 4th 1947. But I know him with the first name Edward. I see him in the London Gazette of Octopber 4th 1940 with "Mentioned in Despatches" as retired Royal Navy, also as Edward.
    14. Thanks Hendrik, this makes it a bit completer for every one here, including me. Any photos or more info is welcome.
    15. According to the sources I have found: - H.T. Dorling, Ribbons and Medals - Jean Battani et Witold Zaniewicky, Decorations, Medailles et Recompenses Francaises - French Medals Hendrik Messchaart This one is correct also and was a first replacemente for the star that was to be found from 1916 onwards. But also I am not sure of its use, so thats why I placed my questions and contribution here.
    16. Is there anyone that can give an overvieuw on the French Wound insignia for Military, Civilian and the criteria? I know that around 1916 they started out with a small starr to be worn on the ribbon of "campaign" medals. That after WW2 a medal was instituted (different grades), but also that in 1952 a clasp with red star was instituted. My main question is which decoration did wounded World War Two receive, but I think a total overvieuw might also be interesting for others here. 1952 clasp
    17. Found out that there is a second version of both the 1st and 2nd class that not has the text "Dem Verwundeten Soldaten", but "IM Diensten Verletzt" . The first means "The Wounded Soldier", the second "Wounded in service". The amount of stripes on the changable ribbon is the same as the amount of wounds received. 6 green stripes for 6 wounds, five for five wounds, and so on till the ones in the photos here for one wound. The 1st Class is being awarded for wounds that have effect on the rest of the persons live. For wounds that give the person a handicap. The effects of the wound have to last. For wounds that "heal", the 2nd class was obtained.
    18. Nice ones. Do I see correct that both classes in the photo state back and front, but are two versions of the same class each time? This because is looks like the ring on the medal itself is different in both photos for the left and the right one?
    19. Thanks Ed, clears a lot for me. I know finding out information is hard. I alway hope by placing the images en little information there is, somwhere, someone stands up and says: I know more.
    20. I alway understood that "official" engraved decorations had a more outlined engraving. This one has the letters not in straight lines, but that is just my thought, British engravement is not really my speciality
