      According to Foreign Legions of the 3rd Reich, this was "instituted on 1st April 1942 and awarded to all branches of the Romanian forces engaged in the struggle in the east..........it was also liberally bestowed on Romania's allies". For info the book mentions that 14 bars could be awarded for front line service. Anyone seen these before? Any photos of these bars to show?

      There have been a number of threads on the WAF regarding the Memel medals and no clear conclusion I believe. The shape of the letter m in particular seem to be at the centre of many of these threads. The curvature of the m was reported to be a bad sign. Maybe others can add to this.

      Here it is again. I am not sure about your guess of the middle numbers (my ?). One of these numbers is obvioulsy a 1 but the other cannot be a 2 based on the way that the "2" are written elsewhere, in perfect arabic script. Can you explain?
